Swiss MG-08 Scope mounts
Swiss MG-08 Scope mounts
Wanted to buy ,two scope mounts for the Swiss MG-08, Thanks Cobra
Re: Swiss MG-08 Scope mounts
Are you looking for the bracket that is attached to the left top side of the receiver box? The Swiss gun is the MG11, by the way, just to keep terms straight......
The Swiss bracket and the one used on the brass Maxims fit the same scope, although the brackets are not identical. Orin Harding has been interested in reproducing these brackets, as I sent him the one off of my MG11 to measure and work up a drawing. I don't know if he is continuing with the project.
If you want to e-mail him I'll post his address here on a followup post as I don't have it immediately to hand.

Re: Swiss MG-08 Scope mounts
Bob, Thanks for the reply, It is the bracket that we are looking for. We could use two at this time. We have been very lucky to have acquired some of the scopes. The guns we have do not have the brackets. For some reason they were taken off. We are also looking for scope mounts for the Browning 50 cal MG. The mounts fit the right rear side of the gun. The scopes were used in the 30,s and 40,s and in a way look like the Maxim scopes. I don,t think they were very effective as they look rather weak,I wouldn,t want to be close to the sight when the gun was fired. There is a company out west that has the mounts for the 50 cal. but, at $350 each we passed. Thanks, Cobra

I am confused......you have Swiss scopes, apparently, and the guns you have are missing the scope brackets. Are the guns MG08s? Or are they MG11s? They must be MG08s, since MG11s are just not available anywhere. Are the scopes Swiss made for the MG11 or Swiss made scopes for the MG08? (trick question)
If they are MG08s, the Swiss MG11 scope brackets do not bolt up to the sideplate. The MG08 scope mount brackets are completely different from the MG11 type.
IMA had some MG08 scope mounts a while back, and may still have some. Matt Hiteshaw (IMBLITZVT) might have one as well in his collection of Maxim parts for sale.
