Need good gunsmith to replace Broomhandle grip frame

I have a C96 Broomhandle.It shoots sweet,but I've stopped shooting it because the grip frame is badly corroded. If I continue to shoot it,the grip frame will break off,and the gun will smack me in the face.The rest of the gun is in great shape.I can get a replacement grip frame from Sarco,but I need a skilled gunsmith to weld it on.I haven't been able to find one.

There are only two places I would trust, PROJECT GUNS and Pete Stout, both have contact information on this board.

I know what you are talking about, I had some old rats I picked up for $80 or so back in the 1990s when they were arriving in from China (ah the good old days).

While many guys could do it, get it down right by guys that know what they are doing.

Yes, both guys have done great work fo me in the past.I also bought my broomhandle in the early 90's.I bought it from an outfit by the name of Paragon that used to advertise in the Shotgun News.I think they went out of business.Those were the days when you could buy saw-cut mp40 and mg42 parts kits for 300 bucks.

A careful TIG weld of the new handle to the frame should do the trick.

Yes,as soon as the replacement grip frame comes in,I'm going to make some calls.After it's repaired,I'm going to parkerize it.Oh,has anybody ever heard of removing the adjustable site,and replacing it with a fixed one.It's always coming loose,and it's real over-kill.

Overkill, what do you mean, you do not plan on shooting 1000 meters with a 9mm or 7.63

I am sure there are many ways to do it, your plan would likely work great, but I have to say altering it just sends a shiver up my spine. There is that Rob Applegate that restores g43/k43 rifles he has dealt with ground rear sights (as many gunsmiths have of course) he may have a good idea to make it look more legit then the average gunsmith you just knows how to sporterize, here is a way to get his contact info:

Parkerize? Awww hell no...! The correct finish is BLUED.

It's already blued.Antique Arms(I think they're out of business) restored it for me many moons ago.None of the parts match,so I taught I'd do something different with it.But if I don't parkerize it,I just might spot blue it.

I know with one of my rough ones the park was the only way to hide, or at least diminsih, the profuse surface pitting. It looked like some comrad in China was storing it in a salt bath However the internals were in surpriingly great shape????
