seein pirate and pcbb doing r&d on bolts gave me some ideas myself.
once i finish and test this bolt scheme of mine I will post complete plans and dimensions for anyone who wants to try it. You fellas have given me ideas you should be careful.

I like pirates idea of a fully supported firing pin.

ok fellas if it works it will have the following features

Fully enclosed firing pin with spring and stop to prevent any oob problems
pin,spring,stop and sleeve will be a sub unit to prevent anything being lost in a field strip
ability to remove or change locking wedge if needed.
and a tension spring setup to take some of the looseness out of the bolt assembly

started on making stuff on the lathe today. Gotta wait for some new tooling to arrive before I can really get going on it.

What about preventing double taps? I am looking for a design that will guarantee
one pull of the trigger....one firing of a round.

TC if it works like it should it will be impossible for the firing pin to contact the primer without the bolt being fully in battery and the hammer striking the pin. so it should stop the
bang bang problem

ran into a few snags on my first design. Clearance issues mostly. revamped the design
now I need to find some spare time to remake some parts. Just letting you fellas know
This thing is still going. Have to incorporate the tension spring into the sub assembly to
resolve the clearance issues. This meant total redesign of the firing pin support assembly
I am trying to do this without altering any of the original parts except the wedge and the
roller pin.

Heres a look at what I have so far



roller assembly will screw into rear sleeve at the red arrow it is a 2 peice assembly leaving the center clear for the firing pin.
firing pin is supported full length and will be collared to stop any oob problems the collar will contact at the green arrow. the firing pin channel is drilled slightly bigger in front of the stop point to accommodate the firing pin spring. The tension spring (the one you can see)
will keep everything in alignment and remove sloppiness from the assembly.

That's it so far still gotta make the roller assembly.

A look at the rear of the bolt and how the pin is supported

the bolt head unlocked and the firing pin fully forward. As you can see the pin does not
even show in the pic thus it will not be able to reach the primer unless the bolt is locked in position

Now a look at the bolt in locked position with the pin fully forward.

You're right, that should stop the double-taps. Spring pressure alone can't fix that problem but this seems like it could. Have you had a chance to do any range tests?

Also, how big a spring is that? Is that one of those you can get from Ace or Home Depot?

I like the idea of that slip-on tube for the locking wedge.

No range tests yet. This is my first build and I have to finish the rest of the gun yet

I got both the springs from a spring assortment pack I got from tractor supply. They are standard springs I think so you should be able to get them at any hardware store.

the slip on collar seemed to me to be the best way to attach to the wedge without altering it.

the roller part was made from mild steel and then casehardened with kasenit compound
it is held on with 2 pins that fit into a groove cut on the center spindle (you can see one of the pins in the pic
