Pirate-very nice-I am enjoying this tutorial.I am looking forward to when you do the rivets for the grip holder.Who has this part? or did you have one off an old receiver piece? I also see that you use the entire bolt to check the rails. This is important-I found that sometimes the head assembly will move just fine, but with the entire bolt, some fitting is needed. Now I use the entire bolt! :? Very good pictures, esp.from the front.I believe it was Chris Cook asking about the fit there a while ago-this shows it nicely.Again,thanks. ---bil

I am going to weld on the grip retainer. the bolt bloc is in the way of the rivets and since the block is a semi auto feature I do not want to alter it.

Pirate,

Great stuff! No matter how many times I see this process, I learn something new. Especially good job on the photography, too. Exceptionally clean and well-lighted illustrations make the process very clear and logical.

Keep up the good work, my friend! :D :D :D :D

gald to hear the comments on the photos, I bought several different bulbs before trying the halogen floods I am using now they give a real good color rendition and nice sharp photos. I spent a lot of hours testing to improve the pictures.

Pirate, How is the Century 53 assembled? You stated that the bolt block is in the way of the rivets, so what did Century do?

More info on your lighting setup, please:

1) Which halogen bulbs have you settled on? Wattage?

2) Are you direct-lighting, using reflectors (if so, which type?), or both?

3) What sort of white background are you using? I've tried glossy and matt paper, cotton sheets, etc., etc., but keep getting washed out by an overly bright background. So, most of the time I end up using a matt neutral color of some type.

On a board like this one, illustrations are essential, and I'm impressed by your results. Any tips would be appreciated. :D

first I am using an older fugi 3800 camera, no flash, it gives a brown hue.

for lights I am using 100 wat halogen indoor floods, thy are the biggest I could find, 120 or more would be better.

I am using direct lighting, not correct as reflected is better to reduce glare and shadows, but I don't have space for an elaborate setup.

the background is white cardboard sheets from office depot. it is a real budget setup!!

the grip is the new wide style fal fcg one.

Pirate - Do you have any more details on the use of the WLA grip with the receiver?
