I received my receiver from pdstout this past saturday (thanks Pete! ) and all seems well except for one problem. The breach end of the barrel snugs up with the caming piece and won't go any further into the receiver as seen below. There is nothing obstructing the barrel in the booster area. What are the possible problems?

if the recop. is insalled it may be to far out

be sure the nozzle is installed in the correct clocking as shown, also be sure it is sticking out the end like thisone in pic is about 3/4" protrusion

This may sound stupid, but did you measure the overall length of the receiver?

Not trying to sell a manual here, but according to the armorer's manual, they made two styles of barrel bushings and barrels. One combination doesn't fit together. Check the barrel bushing and barrel out of the gun. Make sure the barrel bushing goes fully onto the barrel, and that the groove inside the bushing hooks onto the barrel ridge. The muzzle of the barrel should go completely up against the inside front of the bushing.

that is an excellent suggestion john, we went through this in chat last night and he tried a second barrel, i also had him install the barrel door and it will not close , looking close at the pic of the cam section he posted it looks like it is a bit forward on th barrel door side of the gun, maybe twisted a little , he is gonna try to file fit the cam section to the reciever to correct it

I tried telling him it was the mg3 nozzle he is using and to send it to me for a ww2 style but he did not go for it

Pete (pdstout) must have read my thread here because he PM'd me this morning wanting to correct this minor issue. I will send him the receiver on Friday or Saturday so he can take a look at it come Monday.

Pete is one heck of a guy who stands behind his work and if there happenes to be a problem with the finished product then he is more then happy to correct the problem. I will most likely be sending him another receiver here in the near future.

I had something similar happen to me. I inserted a different barrel then I normally use. Like an idiot I sorta forced it in. At least it took more force than usual. Then I tried to retract the bolt. No go. It was locked in there like it was glued. Oh crap.
What I had to do was the old trick of bouncing the nozzle on a board. I removed the buffer and the spring. Then I unscrewed the flash hider. I bounced the old girl on a board at the same time catching the bolt as it unlocked. Time to wipe the beads of sweat of my brow. One thing I noticed before I bounced the gun was that the muzzle of the barrel appeared to be off-center in the barrel bearing.
I rechecked everything but didn't notice anything what would have caused the problem. So I installed the same barrel again. This time it went in as it was designed to do and latched into place. I still had the flash hider off so I did the bounce trick again. Everything worked ok. So I put the whole thing back together again and pulled back on the charging handle. The bolt unlocked normally. Alles in Ordnung.
So what caused the problem in the first place? I haven't a clue. Maybe a ledge of carbon buildup that I missed was in the barrel bearing and the muzzle caught on it. Whatever is was it hasn't happened since.

Mr Stout is making the adjustments to the receiver as we speak, just as he said he would. I patiently await my receivers return.

I also had to file the cams to get the cam piece to fit correctly. As a matter of fact there was a lot of file, try, file some more, until some of the different parts would fit. The CH track comes to mind. I spent hours until I got it to where it would move without binding. These toys aren't plug and play. They require handfitting and tweaking to get them to run. But that is part of the fun of building one. That and wiping the beads of sweat off your brow while hoping that you didn't make a major screw-up. If I wanted something simple, I'd assemble an AR.

Propos is right. Although some of the builds are different out there, I too had to to a lot of fitting one build I did. If the middle was just a little bent at all, up or down, left or right, the barrel would not insert correctly. Some barrels I have work fine, but others dont. Believe it or not, all my yugo barrels work fine, only the styer ones are the pain.
