I am no out to bash anyone here just an honest question.

has anyone got a working 42 using pirates fal grip/Bolt mods..
and if so how is it functioning for you??

I had another person help me with bolt and grip mods (using AR15 parts) and I can not get 10 rds without 5 popped primers ..

Really just dont want to plunk down more $$ and have the same problems..

I have a working semi useing Pirates mods on bolt and trigger grip. I think it is top notch work! Now, just to let anyone know about these mods and how they work. Every semi kit that you may be building will be a little different than what someone has already built or has posted on what they have done to get it to work (meaning clearances and fit of parts). Overall, what Pirate does for mods will work in any kit you are building, BUT... you will have to do a little tinkering to get them to completely work like it is suppose to. Like fitting the FCG up to the reciever for a tight fit with no wobble. The hammer will have to be modified a little to work with the bolt mods. I had to mount the FCG a little differently than what Pirate did, just because I like a really good fit with no wobble. I had to lower the hammer spring tube a little lower than what Pirate had done. All I did for that is drill a hole a little lower for the plunger to fit in. Then I had to cut a slot in the sear pin so that the hammer spring tube work flawlessly, then of course weld that pin in place so it is not removed. If you use Pirates mods and parts, and his service, you will get a great set up that works! Just keep in mind that you have to do a little tinkering. My semi fires like a champ and do not have any problems with the mod's Pirate has done.

i also spent the $ on ar mods what a waste alot of tinkerin and months later and pirate is now makin a grip for me with the fal parts, i have seen his work in person and it looks as good or better then the pics, definitly looks more original then the ar grip ( no bulged out sides)

Mine works great, but you have to pay special attention to the firing pin protrusion. Put undrilled wedge in bolt head, move rollers to battery position [outside], measure pin protrusion with bolt head in upright position. Turn bolt head upside down, see that pin protrusion is now approximately .100. Now grind pin protrusion length to that measured with undrilled wedge in battery upright.This length has to be measured with pin fully bottomed in bolt head. Now you won't have all the punctured primers which can lead to an out of battery explosion that I had because a piece of primer got into the chamber and stopped the shell from seating all the way.
