Another Dangola Kit

I just wanted to show off my kit from Dan and my latest buy from Weaponeer (the ppsh will look nice with the mg42 and my 1919)

My kit from Dan is a 43 model with a bakelite stock, the stock is heavily worn, but with no dings nicks or chips. He packed the kit liked it was donated body organs and I appreciate the care he took. I plan to get a 8mm kit from Centerfiresystems for parts since they advertise excellent barrels. I want to shoot both 8mm and .308. I can't wait to start this project, but it will be put off for a while, there are a couple of 1919 kits to be done first.

Shuft is supplying the ORF 80% 1919 sideplates for our 1919 kits (which I am going to machine the internals on) so they will be done first, afterward, its full steam ahead on Dans kits. It will give us time to buy more of the extras like belts and ammo in the meantime. My wife will have to park outside for a weekend, I will need her car bay to weld our mg42 kits.

The ppsh kit is used, but excellent condition, its a hungarian ppsh48 and I love the wood stock, it will be beautiful when its finally finished. I got it for $130 at weaponeer, but Nartron inc. has more of these kits for $170 if any one is interested, and the guys at weaponeer will soon be brainstorming the semi build for it. Weaponeer got their kits from Nartron and said this will be the last buy on them so if you want one, don't wait to get it from weaponeer. The ppsh is pictured with one of prexis/sten's 80% receivers with internal blocking rail.

Greaaaat looking kits, acmech. I often wanted to get a PPSH-41. My father-in-law was in the Red Army during WWII...or the Great Patriotic War as the Russians call it. He fought all the way to Berlin. We still have his campaign medals and awards. Wish he could have saved his uniform from the Victory Parade in Moscow. We have a picture of him wearing it. He was an interpreter as he spoke German and Polish. I wonder if he carried a Poppashah.

The mg42 stock is black but bakelite has fibers in it, that when they loose their rosin from wear, they loose their black color and the stock will appear "fuzzy", its kinda gray now but a lot of it is actually dirt. Its seems the mg42 I got may have been in use right up until it was demilled. Aint that cool. If I were to hit the stock with oil or armor all I bet it would shine up to a decent black. Thats about all I was going to do with it, I like the character of the worn stock. It's cool to have something that definitly has seen the big war.

Great bit of history about your father in law propos, there was a real good article about the ppsh in shotgun news. Its in the July 11 2005 edition volume 59 issue 19. Maybe you can get a back issue, they have a web site.

I don't have anymore pics yet, but I got my barrel carrier and barrels from LMO yesterday and will post more pics.
