identify top cover's for 8mm

Post by 512cadillac »

Hello everyone:

I finally decided to purchase a barrel in 8mm while they are still available. I still need a 8mm feed tray and booster but not sure about the top cover. How can I identify what caliber my top cover will work with? It is from a .308 kit I purchased from Dan at Angola Armory. Does that fact mean it is .308 only? Or will it work with both .308 and 8mm? I appreciate the help.

You will need an 8mm feed cover and tray. the 308 ones with the kit only work with 308

I'd just look in the stickies for the information , or just click the link ................. topcover and feed tray comparison
"good , bad, .....I'm the man with the gun."

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

The access for the 8mm rounds is longer on the top cover. The feed tray is also longer. An 8mm round won't fit in either one if they are for the .308 Also, the 50 round drums are for 8mm, they won't fit on the .308 feed trays. Were the metal drums ever made for .308? I don't know.

I got a kit down at the creek years ago
the barrel is 308 and feed tray is too
but the top cover has german proof makings on it (the eagle)
I would like to use it for my 8mm build and not a yugo cover
If I get a 8mm top cover can I pull the parts out and swop them?
thanks :?
