tell me guys what you think of my dummy mg weld togeather i think it came togeather good and i am thinking about possible in the future making a semi auto mg42. we welded it togeather with a mig welder and the very steady hand of my great uncle and me. im only 20. and without a jig i put it togeather by eye. im gonna turn it into a gas gun for reenacting. its .308 m53 actually from interordanance and i acutually got a very good kit after reading what some of you guys experiences were with them. i got my kit 2 days after ordering it and it had all the small parts and everything and the cut gap was very small so it was a god sent.

I think it looks great! I've got to get working on mine. I guess if I mess up the receiver a bit it would still make a nice dispay gun like yours. I love seeing pics of you guys mg's.

yea i know i did weld a metal slab into the reciever area but i think if i ever changed my mind that i chould try to grind out the metal block. of couse after i did the modifications to the reciever. i really want to make one like pirate and i cant wait till he gets the kinks out of his gun. then ill start on mine. if you guys want me to take some more pics ill use better resolution so you guys can see it better. if anyone wants me to weld thier mg42 dummy for a gas gun or display after looking at some better pics i would love to. just email me at

pics are grainy so hard to see the bluing, post a pic of the slab, the bipod goes all the way in the front, thats the aa tripod mount

its also the mount position i heard used when a position had the possibity of bieng attacked on the extreme flanks so the gunner chould turn quickly without having to reposition.
but i normally have the bi pod mounts on the front of the MG

Thats the bipod position for final defenseive fire when the targets are coming '
hot and heavy' so can make quick ajustments right or left. Or when you can "see the whites of thier eyes" so to speak.

no problem guys i love MGs and love to show the mg53 to everyone i can. i have heard of people using mig welds on the recievers for semi autos and it works so im wondering why people think tig is so much better cause im thinking of getting one. yall compliment on my mg53 makes me feel like my 3 days in the shop getting everything correct when assemblimg it all worth it. heres one more pic i hope you guys dont mind a 1919 in the pic too its one of my mg42 and my friend christians 1919.

TIG can produce incredible quality welds with the right person behind the torch. However, not being that person and not having a TIG, I used MIG and have had what I would consider a success. If you ever want to build a semi 42 I think you would be safe doing it with a MIG. IMHO

The blued gun looks great. I think I like the blue better than the black I have seen. Looks really great.

The welding job really looks nice. The welds look very clean.
