I was wondering if anyone seen those halves Brp has for sale for the 42sa reciever. On their site, it looks like the bottom is where they made the cut . The sides look very nice (at least in the picture) and perhaps a cleaner way to acheive an accurate reciever??????
Any thoughts on it?

actualy I am going to try using a brp "scrap" semi rec. already got it and it looks fine to me, this may be a good alt for guys with an aa crap cut kit like me

Man, it looks like these recievers are everywhere. I didn't know about this company phil.ordan., and the 80% mg42 reciever looks Really clean.
Do you know what's left to be done on this ---heavy milling like their 34 version?
Sorry for so many repetitve conversations, I'm just searching out all options, and availability before taking the chore on.

IMO the mg42 rec is only good for a dummy because the original are sheet metal, by the time you mill this out to fit sa internals there will be no materal left, i only suggested the 34 rec cause the orig is made from soild steel

Doesn't make it unusable...the Century Arms Cast CETME receiver was also cast and finish milled....the original receiver is supposed to be stamped steel. If it is done right it will be just as strong....but either way incorrect.

I have studied a few BRP 42's and I would be very cautious about using these "new manufacture" section combined with a WW2 receiver. When you casually look at these BRP receivers the look good but when compared to the “real deal” there are a lot of little differences. Also they are made 60 plus years later and the material is certain to be different and will not blue or weld the same.

When you’re done with your conversion you will have legally restored a piece of history.

If you own a BRP gun you own a replica MG 42 nothing more nothing less.
