As the title says....
I am new to this gun and your group.
I have read mech warriors thread at weaponer.
And this build seams to be within my grasp.
I just hope I can keep it in my budget

So,where should I start?
I want to go 308 I think.I have a fal I just built from a 90 percent receiver.
And I try to keep similar calibers on my builds.
I just contacted royal tiger to see if they still have the 308 conversion kits for 199$
I doubt I will be that lucky, but ya never know, right?
So what are my best and cheapest sources for my rear receiver?
And what else should I anticipate having to buy?And from where?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Ken

If you want cheep then buy a complete gun.... Personally I found in the 30+ years on building firearms in my garage is that building is more expensive. Building, for me is a hobby, hobbies cost money.

I enjoy building and get great satisfaction in completing and tinkering on builds to get them to run rite. The Mg42/53 for me was one of the hardest builds I have ever done. I have only basic tools, ie welder, dremel, drill press and hand tools.

Before you start your build, as a citizen, Make sure you review Federal requirements 922r and if you live in a restrictive state like I do (California requirements)

That being said, DO THIS BUILD. The end is worth it. Ask questions.

Brpguns said that they should have complete semi bolts back in stock by mid September. Maybe something to get sooner then later. I just got my kit and trying to get all my parts for semi before I even start building her. I learned my lesson with my sterling build, no bolt parts. Big sad face.

apex has semi-auto bolts, with the cocking handle and bolt extension (brp parts) welded on already for $50.

I'm just starting my build, but it seemed useful to get

You might have more luck finding bits and pieces as well as info if you look for the right model. The MG53 is a Colt commercial variation of the 50 BMG M2. The yugoslavian copy of the MG42 is an M53. Even though a lot of guys can't tell the difference you'll find more with the right model than you do with the wrong one.....
just a hint.
