Need to separate the metal "cup" from the wood buttstock for a project. How best to do this? Does the push button unscrew, then the nut at base of cup to release the wood stock bolt? Thanks.

There's a flat washer inside the metal cup on the push button nut. Flatten it so that the nut and screw can be separated (unscrewed). Then unscrew the main screw from the rear of the stock. The metal will pull out of the wood then.

The metal on the retainer is soft sheet metal. You can use a flat screw driver to get in there and pry it outwards enough so the nut can spin. Once you get it back together you can then bend the retainer back so the nut can't spin again.
