Can someone please tell me which rail goes in which side of the receiver, I have 3 different kinds. And also I have rails that have a thick side and a thin side top to bottom.

there should be "d" shaped cut outs on the rece---the tab will go into the "d" cut out---also the thin rail wil go on the side with the recouperator---if my memory's right

The rails with the rear flat end install with the flat end down, on top of the recuperator. The other rail won't fit on top of it.

The rails with two belled out ends go on gun right.

So, top to bottom, rails 3, 4, and 6 are left rails.

So, I have a question, the right hand end of the rails as shown in the pictures, the end that butts up against the cam, the top 4 rails have a piece that extends past the lug/tab meaning if these are fitted as is there will be a gap between this said lug and the cam which, as the bolt is moving forward will allow the locking rollers to momentarily "bump" over this gap instead of having a smooth transition, I hope that makes sense!

The bottom two rails do not have the piece, so, should this piece be removed and when the rear sections are attached to the front section they be set up so the tab fits the 'D' opening and then nicely up against the cam etc

Your thoughts all??

I'm sure the Germans didn't intend for someone to grind on the parts.

The rollers don't touch the rails, so I don't know how they'd bump over a lug on the rail. Rollers are fully inward on the bolt head until forced outward by the barrel extension. When the locked bolt/barrel moves rearward, the cam pushes the rollers inward again to release the bolt head from the extension. The rollers remain rearward until they enter the barrel extension again.

I suggest reading manual HDv-241 or HDv-216/6 to be able to understand how the gun works. It's especially helpful to be able to understand how it works if you're going to build one.

This isn't a Browning or AK build.

I understand what you are saying, so, with that said, can someone advise what the two tabs are for that sit inside the rail channel on the rail?
