Thanks
What do you mean by "merge"....do you mean "clip it on and go shooting"??? ;-)
....it just clips right on any std receiver, there are no modifications or differences in the receiver, it's all in the trigger group mechanism.
Trust me on this, it is largely a joke on the MG-74 as the recoil impulse of the gun almost always makes the trigger pull back into the fullauto position anyway, it's virtually impossible to get less than 3-4 round bursts even when you TRY to keep the trigger in the disconnect position- Ask me how I know. ;-0
The only way I can reliably fire single shots with my MG-74 is with the winter trigger bar extended down and using the tip of my finger on it, then you prevent the recoil from pulling through to the fullauto position. It's not really useful as intended.
As for trying to DUPLICATE the actual mechanism....my advice...forget it. It's an insanely complicated mechanism for what it really offers you, and on these guns is simply not useful at all. It is the standard mechanism that Steyr uses on all their auto weapons basically, but taking for instance the Stg77 or MPi-69/81 guns where it works very well indeed, on these MG's it does NOT. It is way too sensitive in the disconnect setting, and extremely prone to inadvertent movement past the disconnect and into fullauto. There just isn't enough mechanical distance in the mechanism to make this application versatile.
And as for even FINDING a loose, separate MG-74 trigger group......good luck! Probably not going to be able to do it.
