I took the tripod apart for painting and I am lost as to how to re assemble the tray into the top frame and get the rollers and washers back into place. When I took it apart I took the bolts out and disassembled it Now I cant for the life of me figure out the re assembly> i tried the German Manual source but John says he has nothing on the rebuild of these tripods I thought you could assemble the rollers and slide the tray back in

no such luck!!! so can one of you smarter than me guys that has gone through this give me any hints? they will be much appreciated.I Parkerized the slide in tray and all the hardware for this Yugo rebuilt tripod By the way after blasting not one german proof all are Yugo.

If the thread does not help then contact Topcat himself and all should go well. Also check the one under mg34 tripod.

You may want to do a search for Lafette since Lafayette was some french guy.....
I can tell you also that you can slip the cradle back in place and then install the rollers. The screws holding the rollers are cams and will move the rollers in and out in relation to the cradle. You don't want them too tight against the cradle but too loose will also cause problems. Make sure that once you get the thing adjusted correctly you bend the locking tabs over to prevent the screws from coming loose. A lot of problems with guns running on the mount are caused by misadjusted rollers.

thanks for advise I left messages hope they are able to help. What was odd about my tripod was the top tray was chipped and blistered paint everything else looked mint till I cleaned off the preservative that removed some of the paint now I have to paint it all over again. I am mounting a M53 on it and the Lafette has a Yugo tag and all yugo proofs even under the data plate not a German proof to be found. I got the paint pretty close matched and instead of blueing the hardware I did dark grey manganese park to all the hardware for top tray and the center section all the rest will be yugo gray green The search fire unit and rail is still mint blued as the Yugos did it. If the Manganese park doesn't look good Ill paint it all(the top center section ) except hardware which was blued before.
