The best MG42 semi smiths...

Post by mriddick »

Who would be some of the better smiths to do a semi conversion for me or atleast the welding and big stuff (I believe I can do most of the little fitting). I'm set up with presses, riveting, drill presses and tyhe like but welding I can't do.

Can someone give me some contact names of people able to help...and maybe how much I can expect to pay...

The problem you are going to have is that you need to find someone with a manufacturing license, and that is willing to do a S/A reweld. Then you will need to have it shipped back to your ffl, as it is then a firearm.
currently i know no one that offers that service

It will be most likely cheaper and easier to
1. find somone with a tig and get them to help you reweld it
or
2. buy a tig and learn to use it, then reweld it yourself

You could order the BRP semi kit also.

Riddick - Where are you? If we knew roughly where you lived you might get together with a fellow '42 type and the two of you could figure out the welding details. Mine is coming together with MIG welding, and it should work out very well. TIG is what comes highly recommended for most of the builders though..
