Gripstick attachment.

Post by JDiehl »

Anyone know if an RTG parts gripstick will fit up to my Wiselite gen 2 receiver? I have both and can not get them mated up. Am I missing a trick?

Yes semi auto. It is a BRP complete gripstick (SKU 42205) that I purchased through RTG parts website.

On the raised portion the front of the trigger housing (where the FA is flat) does not want to fit up. Is there a trick to install it maybe I am missing it.

I contacted wiselite and they said they have never used a BRP gripstick and were not sure if it would work.
Just wondered if anyone has used the same parts and had success.

JDiehl,

Prior to mounting the rear-pin in the trigger-assembly......are you turning the front of the trigger-assembly partially to the left or right so that the front will fit up into the slot (?)........and do you have the bolt-assembly removed prior to trying this (?).

Yes Sir. Removed the bolt and rotated in but had to file down some of the aluminum trigger housing to get it in. Now I need to do a little more work to align the hanger hole. I guess I thought it would drop right in.
The stiffener on the left side the receiver seam to be a little long and not letting the grip stick forward enough to add the hanger pin.

The grip stick that RTG sells is a BRP, intended for BRP receivers. The Wiselite, though similar is different and does not interchange. You can build using a Wiselite (Global Machining) type receiver and when doing so make the cuts need to accomidate the BRP grip stick (what I did on my home build). But swapping either type between receivers they were never built for will require mods to be made.

I have a Wiselite M53 and a home build semi MG3 clone using a Wiselite type (GM) receiver combined with a BRP grip stick and bolt carrier.

Here are a couple of pics showing them side by side, WL on left and BRP on the right.
The WL built receiver has sort of a straight ledge across for the grip to hook, the BRP hooks at a lower more angled foward point. Keep in mind my receiver on the right is a GM and was milled by hand to accomadate the BRP grip.

That said, you could weld a slightly thicker peice of metal across where the receiver has the raised angle and dremel it back till it fits. You might need to open the rear a bit too. Thing is if you do that you may also need a BRP bolt carrier as the depth in regaurds to the hammer may be altered as well.

Hope this helps you out. If you need any more pics let me know.

Ish bedanke mich Der Adler! Excellent explanation and photos!

So I will now just source a grip stick for the WL receiver and save the other for another build down the road. I gather not all bolt carriers will drop right in also.

You must remove/grind a small portion of the bottom of the recuperator, not the receiver below the two blue lines.
