Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture jig1-
bjrmg,
I too am looking for an MG42 rail alignment-fixture in but in 7.62x51mm/.308 only (different diameter center rods for bore-diameters)....... along with a set of the rivet bucking-bar-assemblies (two).
I know that both RTG Parts and "Brian" over at BRP Corp have the Rivet Bucking-bar-assemblies........but need a POC for the rail alignment-fixture.
I try to post a clear photo(s) of the rail alignment-fixture in my next posting.

Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture jig1-
Mmmm just thinking about this, it would be good to use say an old 223 barrel turned down as the centre rod, leaving the chamber in the rear, with a laser bore scope alignment chamber insert in the chamber and an adaptor at the booster end of the receiver with a small hole in the centre, once the laser beam exited the small hole it would mean rails are bore line straight!!
Just another means of checking alignment. obviously there is a lot more in it but, another option for validation

Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture jig1-Specs
Anyone having one of these, and not wanting to sell or rent, can you provide dimensions of the blocks W-H-L and rod? Also anyone having a workable alternative please advise! Thanks bjrmg
P/S Thanks for the pics Richard!

Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture maker
The original manufacturer of the jig was Critical Dimensions. I did contact someone there. Said they were sold out for over a year and showed no interest in making more! Thanks bjrmg

42rocker,
I'll see if I can locate a couple photos of the rail-fixture being used.
crash520,
Wouldn't the "set-up" that you are talking about be better used to align the barrel's-axis for sight alignment (?).
I believe that the rail-alignment-fixture is use just to locate the rails vs the barrel-extension inside the Cam-Pcs/Trunnion as is sits in the receiver (?).......(IE: So that the bolt-assembly can center itself during operation and not hit high/low nor "canted" into the barrel-extension (?)).

Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture jig1-
Richard, if that was the case of just use an 8mm laser bore sight in the barrel.
all I'm saying is in a perfect world the bolt should track in the same line as the bore, therefore if the centre rod of the rail alignment tool had the capability of simply using a laser through it, you could use it as a verification that everything, bushing, cam piece, rails front to back are roughly in line, used simply as a guide only, with some other simple adaptors built around that centre rod rather than string lines and all that jazz, the laser could be the alignment check etc.
