Buffer lug crack
Looks like someone smacked the stock pretty hard. This crack goes all the way through but theres a lot of meat on the thicker side to hold it and it doesnt connect on either end. Is this a high stress area? The lug is raised just a hair. Id have to bang it back square and weld it. Leaning towards getting another. Thoughts?

Re: Buffer lug crack
Save the trouble of a repair, and just replace it. It's an easy part to find for a very reasonable cost.

Re: Buffer lug crack
I agree with jbaum replace it. Make sure as to which one that you replace it with yugo or German. It will not fit the buffer cup well, if you get the wrong one.
Might also want to think about what happen to make it that way. Is it from your working mg42 or a part from a parts kit? If from a currently bought parts kit ask about replacing it.

Re: Buffer lug crack
Was a parts kit but it was lacking the rear so thats no biggie. Got a 3 cut german rear its gtg. Currently waiting on new rails and bolt internals before I weld it up completely. Just the shroud and rear tacked together atm.
Re: Buffer lug crack
It is a fairly high stressed area. Difficult to weld as it is case hardened. Ask me how I know. Toss it.
Re: Buffer lug crack
OK dumb question not worthy of a new thread. Whats the hook on the right side that the charging handle can catch for?
