Question on fitting BRP gripstick to m53 receiver

I'm having trouble getting my BRP gripstick to sit flush against the bottom of the receiver. As you can see in the pic, the front of the gripstick is hitting the raised portion on the bottom of the receiver. I measured from the inside of the bottom of the receiver to the top of the hump and it is .238. The cutout on the forward portion of the gripstick, shown in the second pic, is .210. The only way I can see to get this to sit flush is to enlarge the cutout to .238. I just wanted to ask and see if anybody else had to do this or am I missing something?
Thanks,
Blake

Nobody has encountered this problem before or has used BRP's gripstick on a reweld?

Sorry. Not ignoring you. I've got an older style BRP grip and I did not have this problem.

All the gripsticks available require fitting to mount properly to the receiver. Why not just grind the slot to fit? I mean, removing a bit of metal will not compromise the structural integrity of your receiver  .
Ah well i don't have a BRP gripstick, so maybe wait until someone else chimes in :)...

Rule of thumb - if you are going to grind metal, take it off the least expensive part...

More importantly, the least important part ;). The grip slot is always subject to modification when installing various models of grips.

I got the gripstick to fit correctly. I only had to remove .030 of material from the cutout. I was just a little apprehensive about filing on a new gripstick.
Thanks,

Well my m53 has sat dormant for 6 months waiting on a brp bolt. I really haven't had the time to mess w/it anymore until now so no big deal. I spoke with Brian today and I'm still on the list, along w/twenty others according to him, but I would like to get this build completed. Are there other bolt designs compatible w/Brian's gripstick? Anyone else waiting on a gripstick from Brp? Options?
Thanks,
Blake

when I had my MG42SA ( I sold it) I went with one from http://www.thompsonmachine.net/42semi.htm

It ran nice. I still have the grip. I don't know if he's still doing these, as I haven't seen him around for a long time. pancaceabeachbum is his call sign.

I have his bolt mod too. Very nice work. I just haven't gotten around to listing them for sale yet.

Sorry, I have to apologize for not watching the posts a little closer. Yes, you have to remove a little material from the receiver to get the trigger pack to fit. No big deal. I think I have a few, actually more then a few BRP bolts sitting at work. Let me call Brian for a cost to replace them, and then I will have no problem selling one to you.

Thanks oakrodent! I will take you up on your offer. When I spoke to Brian he said they were making the entire sa bolts from scratch now and these wouldn't require any welding. They are still listed on his site @ $275 but this may have increased the price a bit.
Thanks again,
Blake

The semi auto bolts are $285.00 plus $15 shipping. I only have a few left. I'm not really selling them, but I have a few kits waiting to get built so it doesn't matter if I have to wait for a back order. Just trying to help a few guys out to finish there builds.
