Vey nice work, I used a flat file and dressed down the camming section area welds to get the camming piece to fit. Those little scotch brite disks in an angle die grinder do wonders for removing finishes and polishing metal.

I'll take that to account when i do my next receiver build (i'm selling this one anyways, next one's a keeper though) :D, thank you. I better write that down before i forget!

I noticed a wire wheel gave it a real nice shiny finish, probably polishing out my nasty belt sander marks  .
Or maybe it was just nice to me, because my finishing skills have not permitted me to see anything nicer  ...

Also the sanding disks in the angle die grinder do wonders, if you use the flap ones be very careful as those remove material very fast

Michael J wrote:As i promised, my dummy receiver :D . I had to weld a small metal plate to the back prior to mating the two halves, to comply with canadian deactivation protocol. Buffer does fit though, i just don't want to weld my buffer to it, as i'm selling the thing . Grip slot extended, little stud placed inside, completely unnecessary work by canadian standards... (i find out after though  ). The bushing i made myself is completely solid, display only. But on the bright side, everything fits! Except that dumb charging handle has to be filed like 1/16" on one of the edges to squeeze in there. No rails installed also, and i spent two days with a wire wheel removing the crappy old bluing on the front half, as my rear's ceased to exist.

Pretty much, the thing is identical to your semi-auto's (minus the bushing i just tacked on, so it may be removed easily). As it is a reweld, unlike most canadian deacts which do not alter the original receiver, this legally speaking could be sent to an american buying through FFL and used in a semi auto. Technically speaking you'd have to go over a couple of my crappy welds  .
Very nice. I'm probably twice your age and I couldn't do that.

Seriously, must be the camera, it is much uglier in real life guys  . Porosity, visible external welds, and nasty nasty welds on the inside (The copper plating helped, but i wasn't getting hot enough so i didn't get a nice smooth finish, it resembles dog poop or something).

Ah well, thank you none the less WaffenSS :D .

Mike,

Don't fret about the welds...you look like you got a pretty solid receiver!

If you want to see bad welds...just ask me to weld a receiver!

Great work!

Well atleast some people think it looks good :D .

I posted it for sale on a Canadian gun forum, i was expecting a fairly low amount, but hoped and prayed for about $800 so i could buy some BRP stampings.

Well god went a little overkill  , i just received $1200 cash :D :D :D .

I know, this probably ain't much to you employed guys, but this is the lottery to me, never ever held more than $300 in my hands, and that was the amount i was paying some guy because i used to work at a gas station and gave him his lottery winnings :( ...

Thanks :) .

Well considering it is only colorful monopoly money (as Bil would say) , I am still a few hundred dollars short of actually finishing the thing. The FAL trigger parts are costing me $137 :puk: here in canada. Getting really raped on a few small parts i'm missing, but what can i do :? ...
