how to finish the receiver

Post by Artie in Miami »

I have one of those 80% receivers from Philadelphia Ordnance, and was wondering if anyone had step by step instructions on how to complete it. I got the rails with my parts kit...and was wondering how much of a job it was to complete ? I understand that this may not be legal, but I would like to have the instructions on hand just in case the law changes. Right now I have it as a display model and it looks pretty good !

I bought a real mg42 back in the 70's from a maniac that brought it home from ww2 in a duffel bag ! Never got to shoot it...ended up selling it to a fellow collector that cut up the receiver and made a parts kit. I sold it for $300 in 1999 with every accessory and spare part known to man....what a dope ! It was still in my Mom' home in Ct and she wanted it OUT !! But, I got back into the collecting recently and here we go again ! Great site...keep up the good work.

Mine is a MG42, 80% receiver. The guy that sold it to me ( @phil Ord) told me that he sells hundreds of these every year to class 3 manufacturers to make live MG42 guns ! Did I get hosed ? Thanks for the replies guys.

like I said, I think the general concensous is that the phili ord ones look great for a dummy but need aloooot of machining to be useable the gun is sheet metal so imagine the amount of material to remove

Sell hundreds  It takes hundreds of calls to even get in touch with them! I don’t think they sell hundreds of receiver if you tabulate all their sales for the whole year!!!

I HAVE NEVER SEEN (OR HEARD OFF) ANYONE BUILDING A LIVE GUN ON THEIR RECIVER

Sorry not trying to be harsh but I hate dealers and all their lies and it fires me up when the tell their long tales to make a sale!! (can you tell I have been hosed a time or two)

Ak is right. Many will straight out lie, some will Double talk, but few will tell it to you like it is.
don't give up on your quest to get a semi running though. someone will eventually stop in looking for that
exact reciever to do a mock/dummy

Welcome aboard
