It works

Post by Jason »

finally just reloaded 100 rounds and it shot fine :D

the primers looked fine and they all went bang. the only problem I had was with the trigger. I am sure a little mod to the disconect is all it is. I guess I'll stick to the reloads for now so I can finally tear up some turf with this thing.

Fantastic !!
How does it feel on that stand?
Have you popped off some in Rapid succesion---successfully?

Also, on your previous post--about breech/barrel space, and the adjustment
you were going to do to the bolt rollers (?)...... what did decide that worked out
the primer issue? High interest on this subject jason.... clue me in.

I'm Thinking salt needs to switch out your GUN DUMMY signia, and Bump you up the
ladder!

good going jason,

Karbinator, the tripod is cool as he## and as for the rapid fire, the remote fire lever is great if you push it up by the pivot point (less movement). my dad was with and it was so fast that he thought it slam fired 8)

I'll try to explain what I did to the wedge as best I can.
the round part of the wedge hits the back of the bolt head not allowing the 'wedge' portion to push the rollers out any farther. What I did was remove a little material from the front of the round part of the wedge so it would push the rollers out more but not so far that the rollers were jambed out as far as they will go (there is just a few thousands play at the end of the rollers travel). I truley ment to measure the round part before I cut it down but I forgot. I guess that I removed approx .060 to.070.

changing this helped out the primer situation but did not cure it. the big thing it did was make charging the gun 10 times smoother. I think that there is one less thing banging around when the charging handle is pulled, ie the rollers do not have as far to travel before they hit the wedge when it unlocks.

the ammo used was reloaded winchester brass, cci 200 primers, blc-2, 147g bullets.
the primers looked perfect with no signs of pressure and no failiers to cycle. the brass is way to soft because when the bolt pushes the round out of the belt it really dents the rim. Ill have to try some unfired military brass and see what happens, at least until I convert to 8mm or find some 7.62 that it likes.

sorry if this got long but there is a yugo underfolder kit in the basement that need the cosmoline cleaned off! does this gun building thing ever end :D

"teething troubles " ??? feed pawl problems?

By the way, do these guns 'bump' on those tripods?

Karb.

the feeding works great.

the teething problems are with the ammo (just anal) it works good but I'm just not 120% happy with the primer trouble I was having. guess I just need to try some more kinds of ammo.

as far as bumping with the mount, I tried but cant get it done. If I hold the remote trigger at the point where it rotates you can fire so fast it almost seems like bump firing. 8)

You think about running 8mm in it yet?
I remember that post BRP admitted to having probs with this.
I decided to get all the stuff ready, so when It comes time, I'll have the swap out
ability to try.

8mm is very high on the list. I'm going tarpon fishing in Florida this weekend and if there is any money left over after I get back the credit card will be worn out from ordering 8mm parts

Congratulations Jason! I really must admire you guys with all the work you put into making these guns fire again! I don't think I would attempt this project myself as my welding skills are poor! I will stick with my BRP SA. Thanks for the photo and it looks FANTASTIC; I know you are very proud of your accomplishment!
