Exactly. So what's the confusion that requires such "clarification"?

There were MG3's and .308 cans during World War 2?

Video of M53 Failure
Any thoughts on what caused the failure in this video?

As you can see, the barrel just pops out!

Re: WTB: MG42 Buttstock
Thanks. I finally got everything put back together. Mines tight just like you mention. The gun I bought came with an M53 stock but no guts in it. I now suspect that those are the guts in my MG42 stock and he didn't tighten them because they stuck just like you mention. I'll take another look and se...

Re: WTB: MG42 Buttstock
Speaking of internals, on my M53, the locking mechanism that secures the butt stock to the buffer was REALLY tight, you couldn't just push the button by hand. Anyhow, I managed to get it all apart and it turns out the metal tab that locks into the notch on the buffer, was a little too wide, so I too...

Re: Bolt Roller Binds
Ok, I popped out the roller and found that it was getting caught on the corner of the "raceway". I took my honing stone to it and it's good to go now!
I didn't see any obvious damage, so perhaps it was just an issue of manufacturing tolerances being out of spec? (It's an M53).

Re: Bolt Roller Binds
In the bolt head itself. One moves freely but the other binds. It appears to be going into battery when the gun is dry-fired.

Bolt Roller Binds
One of the rollers in the bolt on my gun binds, but the other moves freely. What says the forum?

S&B Ammo Ruptured Cases
A fellow M53 owner in my neck of the woods posted these photos of the ruptured cases he was getting with his gun when using S&B ammo. As S&B is the most common type of ammo we've got around these parts, and I've stockpiled quite a bit of it, I'm curious to hear what the "brain trust" has to say on t...

MG Ammo Can Capacity: 250 or 300?
I'm just curious what the official ammo can capacity is. I keep seeing sources say 250, but I can't help but notice mine will fit 300, nice and tight, no rattling. Also, was there any specific technique for loading ammo cans? As I'm sure many of you have noticed, the rounds don't stack flat. I notic...

Re: Lafette optic block base
Interesting. That's why I was surprised to see the Yugo proof marks on my tripod. I wonder if the Yugoslav army was actually using an optic with their M53s, or if they were just adding the mounts to their tripods due to "inertia", i.e. "the blueprints said 'optics mount goes here', so we added an op...
