Re: BRP stampings
Flem, Was there much metal to take down on each half for the rear to get it to the right dimensions? Im currently looking into getting the pieces to start my m53 build. I've been away for a while. Also does BRP provide any template to use for cutting the slots in the rear? I know they include bluepr...

Re: Rear Receiver Section
TO me it looks a little beat up with grind marks and doesnt look uniform,Another thing i noticed is the welds arent flat and would either need to be ground and filled . Hope this isnt a boards member as im not bashing them. But if you dont mind doing a little zap with the welder here and there then ...

Re: M1-Dan's Build in Progress!
Well stayed after work again for another Hour or so and used my new tungstens and filler i got from AIRGAS friday. The tungsten is hell of a lot better than the piece that came with the welder , the filler is ER-70s and flows very nice and fills well. I got the Shroud welded up where the camming pie...

Re: Need help on mg42 part
Your only other option would be to buy a rear half from WISE Lite ARMS or a coldsteel rear piece. I do beleive those still have to be machined out in order to work. Either way you will have to weld them unless you buy a full BRP Gun receiver in SEMI or have a Class 3. If your over seas im sure you w...

Re: M1-Dan's Build in Progress!
Ok got all 3 pieces tacked together and will show some pics. Have a question of some major improtance. After they got tacked i test fit the grip retainer and the holes are off by 1/16 of an inch or so. I can line up the 3 holes in front but the back one that hold the part down for the recup. is off....

Well got the front and middle section from my IMA receiver tacked in and bolt block welded inplace. Need to do the rear piece and take the old rachet plate off have it drilled but a few welds are still holding it. Hope to get the rest tacked in and welded up a little better. to hold it together good.

Re: M1-Dan's Build in Progress!
well i cleaned up the inside slag with my deburr tool. Ground my screw heads so the bolt can slide through the rails, question on the rails i noticed on each one that one part is thicker than the piece below . Does it matter how it is in the receiver or not. Also how easily should the bolt slide i g...

1919 was easier and cheaper than these 42 builds. Mine was done over winter of 2006 and it runs like a beast.

Re: Michael's Build! yeah yeah, another build thread ;)
not to bad kid, if I were you though take a die grinder with a cutoff wheel and dig out the welds , where you have the tiny wholes ( purosity in your weld due to lack of gas in that area) and go over to fill in with more weld. Trust me a weld like that with out being touched up will be weak and rust...
