WaC did say they had German marked ones wtih German data plates in poorer condition than the Serbian marked ones.

Re: Is this a good deal on a WW2 Lafette?
I never said the WaC Lafette's WERE all German or German. Most of the ones for sale now come from Yugoslavia. The WaC one is sold as such, unlike, perhaps the IMA listing for the same ex Yugo piece.

Re: Is this a good deal on a WW2 Lafette?
This is what I got... http://whatacountry.com/mg42-lafette-ground-tripod.aspx They said they have some with German marks and range tables. Before Xmas they were running a sale and with shipping it was about $1000 even. Not cheap but I could not find one cheaper anywhere that was not missing somethin...

Re: My MG42 Lafette Restoration Project
To remove the center part of the recoil slide, simply grasp the two sides of the outer frame and pull them apart slightly. This frees up the center rails and you can slide the whole gun mount and recoil piston out of the back of the frame. The Serbian tech manual illustrates this handy tip. You can ...

Re: My MG42 Lafette Restoration Project
The spent casing chute sort of got in the way so I removed it from the center of the recoil slide. I could have taken it off after I disassembled the top of the Lafette but it was not hard to remove at this stage. The forward nut and bolt would have been easier to undo at a later stage, though. You ...

Re: My MG42 Lafette Restoration Project
I haven't gotten to looking at the forward lock assembly yet... I thought it would be easy enough to get a new locking clip made that just had a longer lip to extend forward to engage the lug on the gun... but finding a machine shop is not so easy. Everyone says just go get something machined... but...

Re: Diagram of Wise Lite new style bolt ?
I took it apart and normally I do pay attention but for whatever reason I got a couple things jumbled up. Like the big tube looks simple but the inside of the ends are different. You know, you pick it up, it gets turned around in your hand, then you realize hmmmm which way was it facing. A lot of pa...

Re: Diagram of Wise Lite new style bolt ?
The parts in question are the large tube at the right and the long flat bar. They can fit inside the carrier in either direction but are not symmetrical on each end SInce the ends are different I assume they are different for a reason. I was surprised at their lame reply. They couldn't even explain ...

Re: My MG42 Lafette Restoration Project
Taking the top of the Lafette off from the fire control mechanism is a PAIN. It took me a long time to figure this out. There may very well be a better way, but this is how I had to do it... These large screws actually don't do much... but I removed them. It seemed like it would be easy to undo the ...

Diagram of Wise Lite new style bolt ?
Does anyone have a drawing or photo(s) of how the newer type Wise Lite bolt goes back together. A couple parts like the big tube that fits inside can go in either way (the ends are slightly different). Note that in my photo I do not imply any directions or orientations, either... its just the parts ...

Re: Try not to laugh AND Don't do it
We had one of these at the front counter where I used to work. It was the kind of stun gun you hold in your hand and squeeze and you would get a little electrical arc between two prongs. I took it outside and was trying to shock an ant walking along a stone wall... the thing arced and I zapped my ha...

My MG42 Lafette Restoration Project
Now that I have been going a bit, it is easier to back up and start from square one... I have a nice ex-Serbian Lafette that, while in good shape, had very worn paint and was packed with grease and leaf mulch! The thing was really icky. http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l529/Shelly_L_Jones/IMG_096...

Re: Need help with Lafette restoration
I actually started a new PB account for this now... Good idea about the cobbler. There is one near here. I need to talk to him about sewing a leather gun sling... Probably I can take one of the cloth pads apart and make a template for one in leather. Its not like they are overly complicated... its a...

Re: Need help with Lafette restoration
Id be happy to. I have taken a ton of pics. I was thinking of doing something after the fact but I can do it step by step. So far I have been doing pretty good. I have the fire control assembly cleaned pretty well without disassembly. I keep flushing it out with Gun Wash and CLP. Everything works ve...

Re: Need help with Lafette restoration
Thanks... that works. I will get one of those plates pretty soon. Good news is that the paint on my Lafette seems to be easy (relatively) to remove. I sprayed the end cap with some Aircraft Stripper spray, and within just a couple of minutes, I could scrub off most of the paint with a brass brush. A...

Re: Need help with Lafette restoration
For the range table, I was wondering if anyone ever did a full size reproduction of it or even a scan of one. That way I could have one laser etched or soemthing. Failing that I could have it printed on vinyl and applied to a tin plate.

Re: Need help with Lafette restoration
Thanks! I did figure out how to take the two sections apart... I really need to take the bottom assembly apart to get the gunk out of the elevation knob, but I am rather afraid to get in there. I have not decided if I am going to repaint this unit. I know in WW2 they were painted, but I like the bla...

Some of my modest German collection
As I started to collect Soviet and Russian guns (my family is from Kerch, Ukraine) I started to get some Axis things. It started with pistols and then a rifle and then accessories. Now I have four Mauser 98K carbines, two P38 pistols, a Mauser pistol, Luger pistol, some genuine and reproduction bayo...
