Re: BRP Reciever

Oops - my bad. One more thing, use caution in clamping the receiver when drilling/milling. It's a stamped receiver and can bend real easy if you apply too much force (found this out the hard way...)

Re: BRP Reciever

Built mine up on a BRP 80%. Removing the blocking plate is easy – I sawcut the plate down the center and rocked the two pieces up/down till they popped out. You then need to clean out the remaining weld from the inside of the receiver before setting the rails. One of the problems I encountered was...

TNW had some for sale a while back. It's not listed on their site, you have to call them. Seem to remember it was about $15. You have to replace the rear bipod lock spring to mount it.

Having put together a TNW 34, I can tell you fitting the parts together takes the most time. The 34 receiver - being solid rather than stamped steel, has very tight tolerances.

Welds on a BRP 80% strong enough?

About to start work on a BRP 80% receiver, but notice the welds look pretty iffy. Has anyone experienced any trouble with them?

Have to be careful when usnig powder coating - it could change the physical dimensions of the gun to the point where pieces will not fit together properly. Did a AR15 lower a few years ago and found out the hard way.

Also think park is the way to go. Just use the black oxide dip and the final product comes out pretty nice.

This guy has one listed on his products page, but he's in the UK. Never bought anything from him so can't say what kind of service to expect.

KATZBALGER,

I used a slave pin when installing my front sight assembly (one pin holding it in on each side). This held the sight in place when I pushed the main pin through.

Orin, Wow - sounds like their QC really went down hill since I bought mine. The one I got required a lot of fitting, but mostly to remove burrs or small raised areas. There were a lot of tool marks and small dings, but most came out when I sandblasted it prior to finishing. Will be very interested i...

Jason, Did most of this over a year ago and have to jog the brain cells a little. I use red loctite, works fine for me. The receiver has holes drilled for the cam rivets – but they didn’t line up with the holes in my cams. Had to use a jeweler’s file set to correct the alignment before the riv...

Jason, My first post also, so bear with me and my typos… I can answer a few of your questions. First, a little background – I ordered a TNW receiver kit in Aug 04, worked on it on/off for about 2 months at a friend’s machine shop. I would guess my total build time to be about 2 weeks. From exp...
