Re: Sizing 8mm Belts
Probably trying to stretch them out. I have several belts of a 'black' color, no visible markings on them I can see. These seemingly work the best. I can easily push the rounds out of the belt with a little pressure from my fingers. The other belts are of a grey color, and take tremendous force to g...

Sizing 8mm Belts
Been tinkering with my M53. Gun runs great with certain belts, but with others its not stripping the shell from the belt. Looked through my WLA owners manual, but find no reference to how to size a the belts, just that it needs to be done. Search on this site turned up a few hits, but referred owner...

Re: Good deal on 8mm belt loaders
Arrived today. About 2 hrs to disassemble, soak in mineral spirts, and clear the Cosomlene off. Used 3 and 1 oil on the moving parts to help keep it loose. No instructions, so it took me a minute to figure out how it worked. Works great now, loads a 50 round belt in 30 seconds. A lot faster than loa...

Re: Wiselite SA M53 fit MG3 Tripod?
Didn't try it with the butt stock on it, as I didn't want to risk damage to the butt stock, or the Lafette mount. Open sites are still shooting a bit high, and to the right. Found the set screw to adjust the front sight, though that doesn't help it shooting high. Mounted on the Lafette it was shooti...

Re: Wiselite SA M53 fit MG3 Tripod?
Snapped those before work. About the only place I had room in the house with adequate light to get the photos. Not sure how the wife felt about walking home and seeing that in the living room in front of the tree! Will be testing it out next weekend. I'll let you know on the recoil with the butt sto...

Re: Wiselite SA M53 fit MG3 Tripod?
ON the question of an M53 (Wise-Lite-Arms semi-only SA42) fitting a "Tripod"....... ....because we have some readers confused as to what/which Tripod is which.....let's break it down like this: 2: MG3 Tripod. This way-different tripod looks different that a WWII Tripod and is much cheaper $$$. Will...

Re: sights question
my 53 has the same problem shooting way high. I got the two leaf rear site...hear I should replace my rear site to fix the shooting high issue. Haven't gone through it yet This probably isn't right, but I noticed the 'lowest' setting on my sight is for 200m. I'm shooting at 100yd for the most part,...

Re: sights question
While on the subject, how do you adjust the sights on an M53? Mine is shooting anywhere from 6" to 10" high at 100 yards, and to the right. Shooting open sites, not on a Lafette at this point. Just curious how you dial it in?

Re: MG34 canvas cover vs mg42 canvas cover...
Well, it fits, kind of. That's also not coming off quickly!! Which means it also probably violates The Primary Rule of Combat- "First one into the fight usually wins" -TomH Again, not sure if the fit is off because of the AR trigger group on my SA M53. Looking at photos, the 'original' trigger grou...

Check eBay. I thought I saw one of what you were describing here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MG34-42-Lafette-Holder-Optik-original-WWII-/200678304752?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D1%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4455082558449362054 Its overseas unfortunately. Re: MG34 canvas cover vs mg42 canvas cover...
I purchased what was marketed as a MG42 canvas cover, and two canvas barrel covers off eBay for my M53. After some initial puzzlement as to how to get it on there, I finally figured it out. Slip the taller of the posts on the charging handle though the hole while it is vertical. Then slip the smalle...

Re: M53 Ammo Question
I'm in no way an expert, but I've had luck using surplus Romanian 8mm ammo. Bought a spam can at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show in August, bought out the remaining at one gun store, and working on buying out the other. Thus far, that is all that I've tried to shoot. Only a few failures to fire out...

Re: Newbie - Questions on MG42 ownership
I purchased an M53 off Gun Broker earlier this summer. It came with a stripped down M3 Tripod, no optics, no pads, no boxes, just basically the legs, and rails. Also came with a pretty stripped down AA Tri-pod. Interested in upgrading, and I see M3 tripods available on line. Interested in selling th...

Re: Newbie - Questions on MG42 ownership
Quick question: Will a .308 belt loader work on 8mm ammo? Doesn't appear to be much difference between the size of the calibers. I see 8mm loaders for around $300, but .308 go for about half that. For $300, I'll continue to load by hand, but it would be nice to have if the cheaper .308 loaders would...

Re: Can't cock handle/bolt with BRP trigger group! Help!!
Both of you guys are awesome! I took the advice, fixed the charging problem, and went on a test-fire run today. My NEW problem is that the bolt doesn't cycle back far enough to eject the spent casing after the shot... therefore not cycling the rounds. I guess I'll read up on potential solutions to ...

Re: Knob Creek Fall 2011 Who is going???
Didn't realize that this location is under 3 hrs from Indy. I might check it out in the spring. Anyone going, if you haven't heard, be advised that the Sherman Minton I-64 bridge in Louisville is closed for emergency repairs, and thus I-65 has been absorbing almost all of the cross river traffic. Th...

Re: Can't cock handle/bolt with BRP trigger group! Help!!
I have a Wiselite build, and the charging handle nub on mine was trimmed back to clear the trigger group. I used the photos on "Project Guns" site to modify my charging handle with a small notch to accept the bottom tab on the bolt. My charging handle kept 'sliding' off my bolt when I'd go to charge...
