Re: Interesting Very interesting MG42 in airsoft
there are allot of guys willing to risk it all to make a dummy, semi,or illegal full auto gun. I watch gun broker for the most part but have seen allot of guns cut with saw blades or cutoff wheel trying to save it after getting their hands on it. You risk a great deal more than you might guess when ...

Re: Paint removal
i did part of mine that was needing refinishing by blasting it and priming and painting I also re-parkerized the parts that were parkerized in black park thankfully the base and all parts were as new. The damage was on the tray. Mine is for the Yugo M53 so painted it green. when using the chemical s...

Re: lafette rebuild as MG42
it's likely that all the lafette 34 tripods were rebuilt into lafette 42 tripods . When this was done the top trays were most likely scrapped as the Yugo's had no use for the parts. My yugo lafette was an original German made one but during the rebuild all German proofs were removed. I am not sure h...

Re: semi mg running f/a
I have been firing machine guns since i was 13 ( i am now 65) My tutor at that time was a gunsmith that was trained at Aberdeen Proving Ground. I was also taught that the top cover is another protection devise if something goes wrong and a round goes out of battery. When a gun runs away and you have...

Re: semi mg running f/a
whatever you do DO NOT OPEN COVER WHILE IT IS FIRING!!! you can twist the belt but best option is get it fixed by WLA they owe it to you and should be responsible for repairing it before you get caught with it or something happens. It may be your baby but wise things take precedence. The most damage...

finished up my M53 project
I built a M53 from a couple kits as a dummy gun and re painted my Yugo lafette tripod as well . The gun has a bolt and small section of recoil spring for when you open top cover. The trigger group is welded into the receiver. the inside welds on the cut receiver are not filled nor is the cut rails w...

need some measurements for the new receiver weld
The Allegheny receiver I just got posted earlier with pics, turns out is not all from the same gun. It is going to be a bugger to weld up. While the rear section looks to be a slim cut, the next piece has almost an inch missing. The front section where the bushing was cut off is from a different gun...

Re: receiver I got from Allegheny today
what I do on most of my dummy builds is parkerize then one light uniform coat of high temp grill paint. This gives a uniform color as parkerizing will show on the welds. IF you want a blued look you can oil it down a few times with wd40 and rub it in then it gives it a blued look.once it drys a litt...

receiver I got from Allegheny today
this receiver looks new rails are cut but that is fine for me as I am building a dummy gun. Going to be some tough welding and grinding but not as hard as trying to piece together the aftermarket items and having to mill and drill. I also ordered the gunners maint kit and it shows carrying use but i...

Re: do not use Laq steel case ammunition from WW2
In my collection these are the only rounds that are showing deterioration . Off all the German ammo I have these are the ones that are really going bad. Thankfully they are the common ones although I probably wont find another of those head stamps to replace them with. I collect by loading lot date ...

do not use Laq steel case ammunition from WW2
Just a heads up on previous warnings on using German Laqured steel case ammunition. This is part of MY German 7.9 collection of which most of these rds were looking really good when I bought them for my collection but as you can see they are starting to rot through from the inside. I wouldn't use th...

Re: Things to remember when dealing with ATF-FTB
one thing not mentioned here in this discussion is the fact. The ATF and other agency's are always trying to justify their existence. In doing so they create this problem with gun owners of looking through their books for any sort of mistake in order to prove how good they are and how bad the dealer...
