Re: Time to get started.............

I originally ordered 2 kits to have spares & I didn't really have the confidence I would get 1 nice complete kit. Kit #2 does have some small cosmetic issues, but with the bullet hole, I'm gonna have to build them both now (or actually later). Kind of like the idea of having one like new & the secon...

Re: Time to get started.............

Got my kits in from Centerfire! Pretty happy with the kits (got 2 to be safe....glad I did). One kit is pretty nice, both have the long cut shrouds with plenty of meat left and pretty true around the cam section. Kit #2 is missing the rear sight and has a bullet hole in the shroud! Both have nice cu...

Time to get started.............

Well, I've come to the realization that I need to start collecting kit/parts and get an M53/mg42 started. I know I missed out on alot of deals & way better prices from not too long ago, but I was committed to other projects, not to mention work. My original plan was to save up a large chunk of chang...

Re: Fun finishing up the built

We're on for this Sunday! If I duct-tape a couple of Mausers to my 1919, can I pretend it's an MG42?

Re: Fun finishing up the built

Sounds like you're coming right along with your build. I'm looking forward to checking it out when it's done............let me know when you get close & I'll see what I can do about a "private" range.

Re: New to Forum...Hungry for Info

Well, there is much to read & learn. I missed a nice receiver/shroud deal the other day. I've decided to slow down, learn as much as possible, keep a stern eye out for kits/parts, & build a pps-43 for practice. All while I nurture and grow my "gun fund".

Re: New to Forum...Hungry for Info

Thanks for the input Bil, I will search for the John Baums manual. Man.....I've got lots of reading to do. There's a local C&R show this weekend. Hopefully there will be an mg42/53 for me to inspect close up.

Re: New to Forum...Hungry for Info

Good to see you here scoutfal. Tenoroc is still pretty much the same. I live about 15 minutes from there. When I shoot my rifles/pistols, I go to Saddle Creek Park, right down the road from Tenoroc. It's a county park & only $5 to shoot. They have a part time schedule - Wed, Fri, & Sat. They really ...

Re: New to Forum...Hungry for Info

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, I'm not a welder & have never welded before. I plan on taking advantage of my job and take a welding course (free of course) and maybe even do some of the welding in class w/an instructor present. I'm also considering getting a pps 43 or kp44 kit, just for the welding e...

Re: New to Forum...Hungry for Info

Thanks for the welcome, I still need to park my 1919 - not in a major hurry - not that bad looking & I keep adding and doing stuff to it........added crank-fire, working on link chute, etc. With it not parked, I don't have to be so worried about scratching it up. lol Yeah,I decided I needed to get o...

New to Forum...Hungry for Info

Hello, I'm new to the mg42 Forum. I've been around a few other forums, notably 1919a4.com and I recognize a few names from there that frequent here. I have a decent gun collection & am really into the historical side of it. I am a Mauser Nut, and have built my first Browning 1919 this past year, so ...
