It's a dead issue -

ATF rescinded the letter declaring the semi MG42 a "firearm" about one month later.
A semi MG42 is a "rifle" according to the ATF because it has a butt-stock.

Re: New MG15 forum

No semi design has ever been approved. True - Several have worked on a semi design but to my knowledge no one has ever submitted one to ATF for classification. From my understanding, they would have needed the final interenal machine work and then hardening. Partially correct - FA blocking design w...

Re: Strange MG15 bakelite Marking

Bil - Somewhere in the murky recesses of my mind I recall that Christian at IMA told me that the air cooled MG15 kits they sold were from Spain which would account for the Weimar Republic style inspectors stamp found on these parts. Apparently armaments produced by Nazi Germany for export were alway...

I just did a search at http://www.uspto.gov and couldn't find any patent for the MG34 by a Richard Freeman Jr. Do you know the patent number?

Note:
Tripod is believed to be Finnish adopted by them in 1921 for their model 09-21 Maxim.

Use caution when visiting this site I attempted to look at one of the MG42 photos and I was lucky that my anti-virus stopped the photo host site from installing a virus on my PC. Here is the log file for the virus: 2/13/2011 12:03:46 PM HTTP filter file (I deleted the link so someone wouldn't click...

WTS: US Model 1898 Krag

Nice condition 1898 Krag that was sporterized years ago by modifying the military stock, shorten and crown barrel, and replace front sight. Good bore but it does show corrosive primer use in the past. Nice shooter grade Krag. Manufactured in 1900 according to serial number so it must be shipped to a...

Re: WTS: MG42 Receiver, 4 Cut With Intact Bearing

Len called me today and said for me to reduce this to the "fire sale" price of $500 + $20 for shipping.

This is a heck of a buy for someone!!

Call Len Savage at Historic Arms (706-675-0818) if you want to take advantage of this super deal.

Re: MG 15 in use

Sorry to hear that you have had problems getting an acceptable ground mount for yours. This photo is the one I bought from IMA about 5 - 6 years ago - Granted mine is on a non-firing display gun but I have had no issues with it at all. Maybe the earlier ones were somewhat better cast and finished. R...

Re: MG 15 in use

Hi Bil, Rumor has it that the water cooled MG15's AKA ST61's were made for Romania with the water jackets having been made at a "disused" plant in France. They were supplied to Romania under a military assistance program but never were issued and stayed in a Romanian warehouse until sold off as surp...
