Re: MG15 with wood? Any pics?

IMA is very proud of theirs! Parts it I should say! http://www.ima-usa.com/german-mg-15-air-cooled-parts-set-with-wood-action-cover.html I tend to agree that the earlier production German guns have wooden covers! And, the German cover does appear to be marked with two symbols on the very top. One ap...

Full Kreigsmodell Stock K98

Does anyone happen to know where to find a full kriegsmodell stock? I have a project gun that needs one.

Thanks,

Re: Finally got to test fire the MG15 yesterday.....

Hahahahaha! I always hated mg-15's anyways. They are the most evil of the high capacity clip magazine assault rifles ar-47's out there. Especially yours with that extra pistol grip designed to fire even more easily from the hip into the innocent. mass murderers choice for sure.

Re: Finally got to test fire the MG15 yesterday.....

I'll answer that one...

Yes he did, and in doing so ruined a gorgeous all matching original mg-15. He drilled holes into the bottom and adapted a picatinny rail. :puk:

Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

You may be able to get as much as an IMA parts kit. I recommend that you use the german parts kits from ima if you do ever get your licence and rebuild it. Save those original parts!

Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

Very interesting! One of only a few remaining examples of these rare guns! Its a shame that the government doesn't look at the statistics on gun violence in the U.S. and come to terms with the fact that no war trophy to date has been in a part of any crime, ever! Stinks that these pieces of history ...

Thanks Moparman! I hope that you found this discussion interesting, and perhaps found something out that maybe you did not know. If you have any input into this topic based off what you have researched, please by all means spill the beans. All this is theory based on a the few examples know to exist...

Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

Was the ST-61 designation done because of the adaption to a water jacket, or because it was intended for export? I tend to lean towards the later as the proofs and makers marks seem to hint commercial export. What is the earliest ST-61 recorded?

Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

Phil, That's a whole 'nother debate! Yet, very likely to give some great detail into those guns sold to Japan. You raise a very good question about commercial guns being produced during a war in a large military grounded weapons factory. It is to my knowledge that ST-61 stamped on these guns is stil...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/worldwar2man/8414591677/lightbox/ An interesting turn of events occurred today thanks to Flickr's "Pacific Kilroy" The above photograph pictures my type 98's original owner just a few days prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

The description of that tripod says that it has Japanese markings. It looks to be larger, however, than those pictured used with the type 98, and type 1 on this thread.

Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

Beats me on where this came from, or as to who owns it.

I can answer the point you make about returning to the standard marking style....it is YES. Seems as if it only lasted for a short production run. Maybe the engraver got sick for a week!!! ;)

Re: Japanese Type 1 (Type 98/MG-15 clone) reactivated

Looking into the production of the (E)Naval type 1 guns, I recently saw the parts kit gun for sale on Gun Broker that had a very odd style of marking not seen on any other gun. It appears as if it was not gouged with and electro-pencil, but instead stamped with what seems to be a blade (done very si...

feeding frenzy!!!! haha Matt, maybe it is that we are both on the same team driving the price down to a very low level so that it appears as if the $500 is a good boost!...haha just kidding Doug.

I need not know anything other than the guns features for my researching purposes.

haha...parts are interchangeable with those easily bought from ima. Yea, if it is regiestered, then I would be an interested buyer and will pay $500 over what Matt offers!..hahahaha

Would love to see it! price is all in condition. If it is a registered Dewatt, then why not make it a live gun?

Re: Guns found in a river in ALA>

Not that it really matters much, but that is not a type 98. It is a type 1 with a German bolt installed. I have handled this gun in person at the museum. Since then, this display must have been built, and a nice job done on it I must add.

Thanks for the photos,

Seth
