Thanks for the inputs. Already have mg3 door fitted, looks perfectly fine in every way as originals.
Maybe im being to fussy but still like war time original.

UP DATE. Thanks guys for all your help, every reply helped in its own way, All very appreciated. Did not know extensions were punch pinned to stop them un-screwing. I had to cut the round washer at extension end to make 4 flat edges and using mole grips and parking car rear wheel on barrel to get en...

Unless by plugged you mean that the chamber has been filled with weld and they got some on the barrel extension, it should unscrew. There are no variations of the process of putting the two together. Make sure you check headspace before using after swapping extensions. Thanks for confirming that AL...

Need to remove original door and fit a replacement door to my my42. Got correct rivits from brp guns
Is there any body out there had any experience if flatting rivit heads out to match originals

Have searched this forum but not found much with photo evidence of differences between mg42 / 53 flash hiders. Have seen some relic mg42 flash hiders on ebay. Some have flat bottoms shape ends at threaded base end. Some have sloped softer base ends making them look less shape and more angled/softer....
