Re: Question on fitting BRP gripstick to m53 receiver
Thanks oakrodent! I will take you up on your offer. When I spoke to Brian he said they were making the entire sa bolts from scratch now and these wouldn't require any welding. They are still listed on his site @ $275 but this may have increased the price a bit.
Thanks again,
Blake

Re: Question on fitting BRP gripstick to m53 receiver
Well my m53 has sat dormant for 6 months waiting on a brp bolt. I really haven't had the time to mess w/it anymore until now so no big deal. I spoke with Brian today and I'm still on the list, along w/twenty others according to him, but I would like to get this build completed. Are there other bolt ...

barrel extension question
I have 5 8mm barrels and barrel extensions and I was checking the headspace on them last night. All the extensions are marked with a 5 digit seial number with a slash and a single digit i.e., 54281/1. I'm assuming the 5 digit number was the serial number of the gun but what does the last digit repre...

Re: Question on fitting BRP gripstick to m53 receiver
I got the gripstick to fit correctly. I only had to remove .030 of material from the cutout. I was just a little apprehensive about filing on a new gripstick.
Thanks,
Blake

Re: Pics of my m53 receiver reweld
I got my gripstick in from BRP today and got the grips fitted and the fcg installed. I'm really pleased with Brian's setup. Its nice to be able to utilize the original grips. Hopefully, tomorrow I will have time to trim the slot in the recouperator for the gripstick and do the final dremel work on t...

Re: Pics of my m53 receiver reweld
Thanks guys! The sa gripstick should be in the mail but Brian is out of the bolts at the moment. Should be about 2 weeks before the bolts are done. This will give me plenty of time to finish reading John's manuals.

Pics of my m53 receiver reweld
Thought I would post a few pics showing my progress so far. Everything seems ok w/the receiver so far: seems to be in alignment, door closes as it should, charging handle works, buttstock attaches easily, bolt slides on the rails easily, locks into the camming piece and unlocks by pushing in on the ...

Re: installing a new front bushing???
I am also at the point of installing the front barrel bushing. I already had a wiselite bushing on order so this is what I will be using. When I use the 37 11/16 measurement (from the back of the receiver to the end of the bushing) the barrel door is hard to close also. The only two options I see ar...

So for the 4 cut kits that had the front end cut, will you still have enough length using the brp bushing?

Re: Ratchet plate pics?
Thanks for the help Oakrodent. I should have been more clear about my ratchet plate. I have since found the front portion of the ratchet plate for my M53. The front portion of my plate is profiled differently than the rtg plate. It does not have the leg that protrudes down by the cocking handle slot...
