I love my WLA M53 as well and after a bit of tinkering with the firing pins it runs without flaw.

I had to modify the mount on the MG3 tripod to make it fit and I do not want to modify a WWII German mount to fit the M53.

Called Wiselite today and I did the troubleshooting she suggested. All was well so my M53 most likely needs a stronger firing pin spring.

I just picked up a Wiselite made M53 at the last gun show. Today I took it out to shoot and it ran well with the recent 8mm imports.
