Re: Barrel Bushing
Thats the original style barrel bushing which is made to be swaged inside the shroud sheetmetal. You can make the missing sheetmetal by turning a bushing that matches the profile and split it in half to make the overlay .Then simply weld it all together. Wiselite bushing had the larger o.d. to give t...

Re: riveting
Somthing I noticed that I'm not sure about my build still has the rails held by grade eight hex screws but I do plan to rivet soon. Most people seem to be using the 5/32'' ( .156'') solid rivets ,but this is smaller than original which are( .170'' )shaft size and is a non standard size. I'm wonderin...

Re: Shroud drawing/measurements/blueprints
I can get you the original sizes taken from Yugo M53 if needed. If you look you'll find the rear of the barrel bushing is still in that front part.Mine measured 17.750'' from the rear of the bushing to the shoulder where the barrel rests against.I marked mine with a scribe before removing the remnant...

Re: IW'S SCRATCH BUILD M53
Thanks for the comments, I spent countless hours studying all the known drawings and many close up photos to make this rear receiver. The actual fabricating part I had roughly 20 hours in give or take, but now that all the figuring part is over making anouther would be a lot simpler. m53 003.jpg MG53 ...

Help needed on a build
When charging the MG42 does the barrel and bolt assembly stay together momentarely ? Basicaly when I charge mine it requires some force to first pull back because the recoupertor is being compressed by the barrel/bolt assembly until the camming piece presses in the rollers unlocking it about 3/8'' b...

Re: Finished my MG42
Looks real nice, Can you see the weld lines show with Dulite blueing? Love to see a close up as I've also been considering this instead of cold blue or bake on finishes.

Re: booster repair bushing plans/ where are they???
I used that print to make my bushing, the only thing I had to change was the outside detail.Mine was repairing a Yugo M53 and needed to be press fit intothe sheetmetal with the exsposed area to mimik the original sheetmetal dimensions. Here is my brief description of the method I used, you can also vi...

Re: barrel bushing prints
I made my own bushing ,if you look at this thread it explains how I did mine.I used the proper size woodruff cutter to create the slot bottoms just like the original, then hand broached in my lathe.

Re: Bolt modification Questions
Ok I guess I didn't fully understand the operation of the bolt.I thought the spring that is on the shaft in the carrier was acting as the resistance for the ejector.
After doing a little study I see that the spring is actually used for an anti bounce feature.

Bolt modification Questions
I'm in the process of modifying my bolt for semi use,I made my extention and have it ready to weld. I'm getting ready to mill off the original sear catch pad but have seen varying specs on how much to remove,it looks to me just milling it flush with the rear extention housing flat would be fine? Ano...

Re: THROUGH KEYWAYS IN BARREL BUSHING
Your quite welcome :) Couple more tips: 1) Set up bushing in mill vice with threads up to cut woodruff slots as the shank will hit the bore if you try it on the bevel side. 2) Flip over and indicate bore of bushing back in to mill and use an extra length 3/16'' carbide endmill and touch bore wall an...

Re: THROUGH KEYWAYS IN BARREL BUSHING
One thing I didn't mention is you do not need as much back relief on the tool bit,I had to do mine because I was starting the cut in the woodruff slot since I chucked it backwards to avoid thread damage. What you do need is to copy very closely the form of a regular broaching tool, with good chip bre...
