Yea, I have 813a that I shoot at every knob creek. It must have been made just after this one.

Re: Anything historically accurate about IMA's large Shield?
Not sure but it looks nothing like my original shield which is the style seen in a lot of the photos. That said there were several types that are pictured side by side in a period photo in the paintbrush.

Re: MG08 Fuzzee Cover Marking 1918
If it is a Charlie erb sideplate gun then its not at all uncommon as he engraved many of them on his little machine and often made all numbers on the gun match in the process. You wont find a real dwm gun so engraved unless its a navy gun, which this one clearly is not.

Re: MG08 water jacket original green paint
That gun was sold at the October Julia auction and the new owners had it at the creek for sale. It is mostly original but was missing the sled top strap and the drain valve when they bought it. That means the valve won't be matching but not sure how important that is to you. Best I remember it has a...

Re: 4th Position Stoppage
First of all thank you everyone for the help and of course I will have plenty more questions to come. I changed out locks, fired 1,500 rounds of the 70s Romanian, and only had 1 jam this past weekend. Bob is there any way I could ask your assistance in taking a look at the lock that was giving me t...

Re: Muzzle booster removal question
Good deal. The parts listed previously are the ones that will rust rapidly because of corrosive ammo. Often at shoots all I do is clean those parts with windex, then oil really well. The whole thing then goes in a pelican case with desiccant until I get home and then the gun gets a proper cleaning. ...

Re: Muzzle booster removal question
Push the booster up against the waterjacket then pull forward rapidly. You are using the booster as a slide hammer to pull the little piston, which is seized to the barrel, off the gun. If you fired the gun this weekend with the above mentioned Romanian ammo and have not yet removed it for cleaning,...

Re: 4th Position Stoppage
I would suspect the lock until the ammo has been proven to be bad. That is opposite of what normally should be done, but that's my hunch. Do you have a Mauser you can try the above pictured ammo in or anything else in 8mm to see if it fires?

Re: Removing left and right closure plates
Just pull them rearward. They will slide out. If tight tap with a brass hammer. Fwiw I rarely remove the backplate from my guns. Everything can be easily pulled from the gun simply by hinging the backplate downward after removing the top pin. Think of the bottom pin as only having a certain number o...

Re: 4th Position Stoppage
Haak, I had a similar situation and had an 08 that was striking what appeared well leaving good dimples in the primers but was getting lots of misfires. Belted the remaining case in browning belts and ran through a 1917 without a single hiccup. Changed the lock in the 08 and it ran the ammo without ...

Re: 4th Position Stoppage
It takes a good strong firing pin spring and a firing pin that is not worn down along with an extractor that holds the cartridge well and doesn't let it flop up and down. The Romanian in my experience is easier to set off than the Yugo, but it's military ammo so the primers are going to be tougher t...

I was wanting to know what the water jacket looked where it had been modified. I know what the fitting looks like but it looks like the jacket was modded also from the pics I have seen.

Re: Ww2 mg 08/15 bipod attachment?
While we are talking about ww2 use of 08/15's, does anyone have any specific details about the conversion done to the waterjacket where the steamport connector was done away with and a hose type connection added in its place?

......Has anyone ever taken a belt loader apart for cleaning or maintenance? Mark I need to dismantle mine too. Re: New to me interwar modified backplate
Thanks for the pics Mark! What I really need are a couple from the side so I can see how it fits onto the backplate. I am assuming it pins to the backplate through the holes previously used by the old safety?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

New to me interwar modified backplate
Picked this up a little while ago and just finished it. Overall in good shape under the paint but missing the left trigger which I had to make with the help of a friend and his machine shop. Still need good pictures of the aa stock adapter and it's attachment point to the backplate so I can fabricat...
