.......Just to clarify what has been said above.......The conversation blended war-time and post-war ammo cans! The war-time ammo cans were without any metal bent rod guide in the bottom.... The post war west German/308 ammo cans have the rod guide in the bottom.....It seems no one above, seperated ...

Yah, Mike, ...as you know , I am a big one on cutting the recoil spring down, when setting the gun up for firing Blanks. ..........and I do this on both the 34 & 42, FA and when I had both in SA form. ...Folk in his big book on the 34 & 42, even mentions that the unit waffen-meister had to be carefu...

I agree with John Baum, and go even further..>> For me, I prefer a wet gun, for even in re-enactments with blanks, we are usually in sterile or near sterile environments......Changing hot barrels & spraying oil on them to help them cool faster, plus using the two piece blank barrels, I lube the smal...
