Re: butstock is not 100% centered after it is locked in place.
"very slight cant to the right" = how far? Can you see it with Eyeball 1.0? Or is it noticeable only with a ruler? Is it off-center due to welding? If it is, then the more important thing to ask is whether or not the buffer is centered inside the receiver? If it is off-center, it could affect the fu...

Re: Gungrubbers semi bolt design how to
A few thoughts. Would a more permanent fit between the main body and the locking wedge work better? As in using a press fit to attach the collar onto the locking wedge? You could use a bearing press to press it into place, then mill the flat on top. Another idea is you could blind pin it into place?...

I think it looks great! Range reports and pictures of fired primers would be nice.

Re: Workin on my own semi bolt design
You're right, that should stop the double-taps. Spring pressure alone can't fix that problem but this seems like it could. Have you had a chance to do any range tests? Also, how big a spring is that? Is that one of those you can get from Ace or Home Depot? I like the idea of that slip-on tube for th...

Yes it does. The Bren barrels would be a close match but the gas port would need to be plugged. Or just get a .303 barrel blank from elsewhere.pathfinder wrote:You might check out a british .303 barrel for a blank, I think that they also used a .311 bullet. Good luck!

Re: Bolt hold open device
What happened to the pics of FJRUPLE's BHO? It was a spring-loaded peg in a tube that was welded on the handle perpendicular to the receiver, and a matching hole was drilled into the ratchet plate. Pull handle back, push peg into the hole and you were set: http://www.mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3372

Re: Issues with S. African Ammo
The remaining bag has the following headstamp/lot info: Headstamp: B81 7.62 R1M1 Label: 140 Round 7,62x51mm BALL R1M1 * CTN (and in stamped ink) 102 B08/81 So I think it is lot #102 mfg August 1981. Like I said, I'm going to run these through the crimping die to make sure I don't have any more come ...

Issues with S. African Ammo
I have had some bad experiences with South African ammo in the battle packs and wanted to share. There were two different battle packs I bought about 1-2 years ago back when it was still $200/1000. Both have the same problems. Misfires are the main problem. I had several misifres, and when cycling t...

Re: 8mm Throat Erosion Gauge
I'm surprised to see that no one mentioned you could make a chamber casting and measure the casting. I have made a few out of the Cerrosafe alloy, which is reusable, but I did just as well with the sulfur casting. You would need to look in a reloading book or perhaps a reamer diagram to know how dee...

Re: Fixed my dented brass problem - now thinking about reloading
Wanted to share this deal - not sure how good of a deal it is but here goes: http://www.brassmanbrass.com/monthlyspecials.html New PMC brass: 8mm MAUSER $200.00 per 1000 shipped, $105.00 per 500 shipped It is listed as a "monthly" special so I don't know if that means it is over tomorrow or not. Too...

Re: Fixed my dented brass problem - now thinking about reloading
Thanks for the advice! I am still wondering how much I'll be shooting 8mm if it mis-treats the brass like that. Maybe I'll just sell all my 8mm stuff and stick with .308 (rolls eyes).
I have Hornady reloading gear and really like it. I have the auto-feed press and its really nice.

Fixed my dented brass problem - now thinking about reloading
I fixed my ejector problem. My brass was always beat beyond recognition until I rounded the edge of my buffer to more closely resemble the Yugo design. Now, the brass ejects cleanly and with no "dents of death". Food for thought for those that have mentioned seriously dented brass. I am pretty sure ...

Re: MG42 in .223
This is a good idea for a "plinking" conversion because of the stupid low supply of ammo right now... Spitballing here... Seems like you could buy a spare top cover and adapt it to use FN Minimi (SAW) feed pawls. Spacing for the smaller size cartridge is obviously needed but the same principle works...

That's an interesting muzzle brake on the end of that! Certainly hides a BFA but it "looks" correct.

Re: Are rails interchangable? Left and right?
The rails are the same. If you look VERY closely you'll see that one side is thinner than the other - that is to give space for the recuperator to be mounted below the left side.

I have some business in Germany
My boss offered me an opportunity for a few month's work in Germany for a computer upgrade project. I have to wonder that, if I have the time for sight seeing, what kind of goodies I might stumble across at a gun shop. Does Germany even have gun shops? All these "sweet deals" you see have to come fr...

Ah yes the glass-hard bolt! I had one of those too. I assume you mean the "bolt locking wedge". I went through an entire range of drill bits in that size range! All I can say is, get a drill sharpener and keep at it. And have plenty of spares!!!! :D Seriously, buy at least a half-dozen of that size ...

Some have posted good results with using oven cleaner on dirty bores. Yes, I know!!! Plug the end and let it penetrate, then scrub it like normal. Supposedly works as good as the electrolisys method.
