Re: WTB: Ammo Cans
I saw those and wasn't sure if I wanted to take the gamble. Dirty I can deal with. Bent and broken is another story.

WTB: Ammo Cans
Looking for 5 8mm ammo cans. Prefer German, but since I can't find any at a reasonable price, Yugo will work.

Re: MG53 Receiver Repair
It does NOT have the trigger cut out. You can see that it's intact in the first picture. I'd be careful.Taurus454 wrote:Thanks Bill! I'll check, my understanding is it was an SA receiver and has the blocking lug AND trigger cut-out that allows the SA trigger group and SA bolt.

Re: Rail Rivets?
That's right. I don't know where the rail corners came into play, but because of the receiver design, it would impossible for the ends to touch the receiver inside top. The feed tray area, however, does (on mine anyway) butt against the rails...at least one of them.

Re: Rail Rivets?
Well, if my join date is any indication, and I suppose it may or may not be, I'm not rushing into anything. Other builds have back-burnered the '42 and some eyeballing it raised the above questions. Also, "wow" notwithstanding, I think you'll find that the rails do in fact butt up against the inside...

Rail Rivets?
Where can I get these? Size and length? I had some given to me several years ago, but I've misplaced them.
Also, do the rails go butt up against the top, inside of the receiver?
Many Thanks,
Matt

WTB: Belts
I'm looking for 10 or so 34/42 belts. Prefer WWII era. Can be post-War, but must link to WWII style belts. Cope's has four belts and an ammo can for $18, but they appear to be different from WWII belts.
Many Thanks,
Matt

Re: What is this parts?
I've gotten around to inspecting this part closer and although the screw is original, the rest was added later. The main shaft is solid steel and is (was) locktighted to the screw via a allen-head machine screw. The other end (right as pictured) is tapped for another allen-head machine screw, which ...

What is this parts?
I recently got an MG34 parts kit and it came with this extra piece: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v307/dandomatic2/UntitledImage.jpg I appears to be an E6 Back Closing Screw. It threads in, but obviously is different than the one pictured in the parts IDs here (and the other one that came with m...

WTB: MG34 Charging Handle and Receiver Rear
Numrich has (had) MG34 charging handles for $50. Who knows if or when they will be back in stock. Does anyone know where to get one? They are on GB, but seem to be quite expensive.
Also need the rear portion (the longer the better) of a 34 receiver with threads intact.

Re: Help ID Markings
You know, looking at the squirrel mark again, it looks like the two vertical lines are ears and the squirrel is looking to the right toward its tail. This doesn't make it any less unusual. Maybe this is what my grabdfather meant when he said, "I fought the Nutzis." Any theories about the backward Z....

Help ID Markings
Has anyone seen what appears to be a backward Z proof? What's the significance? http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v307/dandomatic2/guns/DSC01379.jpg I also have feed tray with what appears to be a squirrel looking up! It's on the back of an MG2 tray. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v307/dandomatic...

FS: MG42 rear section
I have the rear half of a German receiver. I was going to harvest the ratchet plate to use for my build, but decided it would be easier to buy one. It looks usable, but needs finished. Buffer and charging handle fit. It has three WaA4 stamps. $300 shipped or trade for 500 rounds of brass/boxer/nc .3...

Re: Rear Receiver Section
That's a reasonable price? I have a German rear that's a little shorter that I plan to sell, but I was thinking $300. I recognise that user name, but I can't recall if it's here or at the 1919 forum.
