Re: MG42/59 missing part?
No cheap surplus left here in the US. Even the 50's Yugo and 80's Romanian are going for close to 50 c/rd now. The days of 900 round Yugo cases for $50 are long gone.

They still have some steel case Romy 8mm at SGAmmo.com (loose in ammo cans).

Re: M53 catastrophy
For those needed better quality 8mm surplus for their M53's, Aim now has 70's-80's dated Yugo 8mm. This is thought by many to be the best surplus 8mm imported (not to be confused with the 50's Yugo which is the worst).

Re: New Batch of M-53 Kits at Centerfire
Didn't see any pitting on the parts and yes they are coated in cosmo. The kit came with an original bipod. Shipped loose, but shows use and finish wear on the edges so it's not newly made. The front shroud is included with the treads on the front end torched off and the back end torched off after th...

Re: New Batch of M-53 Kits at Centerfire
Kit came in. All the parts are there as expected. Ordered a barrel with dark bore and that's exactly what I received. Cleaned up well with WD-40 - still some pitting as would be expected, but rifling is present and the barrel easily passes the bullet test. Bought it for a cheap blasting barrel. Plan...

New Batch of M-53 Kits at Centerfire
Centerfire just listed a new batch of Yugo M-53 parts kits for those interested in another kit or spare parts. The barrel is optional with several barrel grades available at different pricing levels.

Re: AA Tripod with Bum Leg
That's why I asked here first before I jumped in with both feet. If it's going to be a pain to repair, I will just strap the bad leg to the two good legs for support. Thanks.

Re: AA Tripod with Bum Leg
Leg angle is the problem. The lever that is used to move the leg and then holds the leg in the position you select does not lock the leg. The leg moves freely at all times. I'm assuming there's a flat spring of some sort in the mechanism but haven't taken it apart yet.

AA Tripod with Bum Leg
Anyone ever take apart the pivot mechanism on a post war AA Tripod leg? I have a tripod with one leg that does not lock in place. Haven't taken it apart yet so diagnose the problem, but wanted to see if it's been done before. If it can't be repaired, I guess I'll just use a strap to hold it in the e...

I was on the waiting list started for these kits 2 years ago. I'm sure the list is long gone by now as is the price they had offered back then.

Re: New M53 is giving me so many problems
Can you check to see if the barrel bushing is moving freely in the barrel shroud? When fully forward, the barrel bushing on mine sticks out about 0.7" from the end of the threads. My M-53 had feeding issues at first that turned out to be related to the barrel bushing not moving freely (needed a rubb...

Re: New Wise Lite M53. A couple of questions.
Make sure your barrel bushing is moving fully forward or it could put pressure on the barrel and make it hard to remove and install. That was the issue I had on my M-53.

Re: m53 failure to advance
Before you bother with a new barrel bushing, check the grooves in the receiver that the bushing travels in. On my M-53 I had the same problem and identified "mushrooming" at the end of the grooves as the problem (the grooves in the receiver, not the removable bushing). I called Wise Lite who recomme...

Need a lesson on belt lubrication
I'm planning on taking the M-53 to the range this weekend and wanted to find out how to lube the belts. Is there a previous post someone can link me to, or just give me a quick lesson? I tried the search feature with no luck.

I'm not aware of any source for non-corrosive FMG 8mm ammo or FMJ bullets to go the reloading route. If anyone has a source (especially for the FMJ bullets) I'll be very happy to be proven wrong.

Where's the rest of the Century builds? Apparenly I'm not the only one that's getting tired of the wait time.

Thanks for the update. I really appreciate the pics and feedback and I'm sure many others do also. Now I'm going to have to call my rep at Century and find out where I am on the waiting list.

Richard,
Thanks for the update on these. I've been keeping my fingers crossed because I really wanted to see this product become a reality. Can't wait to see the finished product.
