Swiss made tripod?

Post by m4a1sof »

Saw this on Fleabay. While I was looking at it somebody hit the buy it now button, yikes, they have way more disposable income than I do  ! Anyway interesting, I didn't know the Swiss made the Lafette 34 for Germany for one year. http://www.ebay.com/itm/German-WW11-MG3 ... 7675.l2557 Same guy has a mint MGZ34 in the can as well. Megabuck price as well. These prices illustrate why I decided to go with an MG3 tripod and scope :) .

Interesting.
Well the Swiss did not make it... "Swiss" was code name for
"Siemens Elektrowärmer G.m.b.H., Werk Sörnewitz"
see
http://www.bergflak.com/lafette/evo34.html
there are other code sources out there that should say the same thing.
After that statement, that company only made them, as stated for 1 year, 1939 .
Now if you can find a MG34 lafette that is somewhat original for less than $3,5000 that sounds like a good price this day and age. 2017.
That price might be a good price for that lafette,,, up to the condition and how original it is. Like to have seen the pics.
In the last few years Lots of lafettes have been put together with Lots of miss matched parts. Just because you put a German back plate on a Yugo lafette does not make it original. Please see Radar's great work on this.

Should add that I agree the MG3 tripod with it's scope is a nice set up also.
John has several great manuals on that lafette also.
