MG34/41 Parts

Post by michaelangelo »

Hello,

I have now had all of the small parts that were missing reproduced. I am still missing an original feed tray, short top cover lever and top cover. The MG34 feed tray can be modified to fit and I have copies of the short lever. This winter we are looking at copying a top cover.

I was going to donate a top cover pin to Aberdeen because the one on their 34/41 had the end broken off. Their weapons are boxed and a Fort Lee, Virginia now. The museum to house the collection has not been built. Three cheers for government planning. I will donate the pin when the collection is displayed otherwise they might lose it.

You have worked long and hard getting this group of parts together. More power and luck to you in your final search. And the part in which you are willing to donate a part is great.

Good Luck and hope to see more pics as your build happens.

awesome parts! curious do the barrels/ barrel jackets of the mg34/41 interchange with the std mg34? It would be cool to have a short front end like that.

The barrel jacket of the MG34 will fit on the MG34/41 receiver. The bolt of the 34/41 will not fit into the back end of the MG34 barrel, It does not use the two lock threads of the 34; it uses lugs. THe 34/41 barrel is roughly 3 inches shorter and has a widened front end to catch more gas. The external shape of the rear ends of both barrels are the same. The 34/41 or 34S barrels are profiled and narrowed until the last two inches where the widen dramatically.

Have included pictures for everyone to see the differences.

Earlier this year I got hold of a tripod. The top part was MG34 and the bottom part was MG34/41. The AA cradle and tube are the same for the 34 and 34/41. Will probably have to get top end modified; the top end to this one went into an armorer's junk pile in the forties.

This is where I stand now. I have all of the parts for two guns. The dark top cover is a newly machined product.

Hello Absolutely love the pics, the 34 s 34/41 has always been one of my favorites,I heard a few kits came in a few years ago and of course I was into other things at the time.I bought 4 of the standard kits in the early nineties, lately I bought about 9 m53 and 2 mg42 kits along the way I got 5 zb37,s and last month a mint a/c mg15,but I would really love to get a 39/41.I have 2 more a/c mg15 lined up for this year, but I think my next quest would be the 34/41,do you have any idea where on earth I could find one.I am really impressed by the parts you had reproed, thats an amazing job, they look fantastic.I was going to try to find an mg30 but from what I have heard they are non existant, but some 39/41 kits pop up now and then.I am in no rush as I still have to dig up funds for the remaining mg15 kits, but I would seriously be interested in a 34/41 . Good to know you can have the parts reprod that would be a great help in case the part kits weren't complete, are any of the parts interchangeable from the standard mg34 and the 34/41,also what parts can be modified to interchange and can you do those mods if you were sent the parts. You have 2 real jewels there its nice to see someone with the skill and determination you have building these.great job!!!
