My Latest Addition - MG42

Post by Patty218 »

Hello there,
I have put a link below to my Mg42 that I just got yesterday, and I was just wondering what your thoughts about it are? It is an NC CRA coded weapon, and has what I believe to be original finish throughout, if you require any more information/pictures please don't hesitate to ask me, Patrick. :D

Oh I also forgot to mention, does anyone know where I could find a genuine WW2 German charging handle for my MG42, as the current one I have is Yugo, and I believe it is the only postwar part there is?
Once again, many thanks, Patrick

First Welcome to the site.
I went to your site and What a Great looking MG42!!! Ra Ra...

That said you are right the charging handle needs to be replaced bad. Everything else is so nice.....

Give Brian a call at brp

I'm sure that he has them. That said I don't know if he will ship out of country. I also have the parts that you need and if you are going to be in the states I would be happy to ship a brp charging handle set up to you.

Also you can check gunbroker..

Very nice addition you got there. I love those wooden stocks. Be sure to clean it up and put some Duracoat on her to make her look even better!

Keep an eye on Eurowar45 on ebay as he often has mg42 parts listed. I think he also sells on egun.de. May be a bit expensive as the last one I saw was £75.

Nice MG42 if you keep an eye on ebay there is a chap that sells a small parts kit for the bolt, no naughty parts in it but it has the rollers in it, extractor, extractor spring, ejector spoon and a cut down firing pin.
The only thing that helps me maintain my slender grip on reality is the friendship I share with my collection of singing potatoes.

Did not see enough of your barrel to be able to tell anything but its a barrel. Sorry about that. I believe that you stated that your barrel could swing out. Checking the barrel and barrel extension for marks is about it. Your mg42 is super well marked... Looks great. Good Luck on the charging handle.

It sure looks sweet on that tripod. With a mg34 in the background I believe. Nice Butt stock.

Patty 218,

Congratulations on your MG42.
I like the patina on your gun and the accessories that you have added.
The markings are great.
I am surprised how the deac was done in the U.K. where you can still remove the barrel....very fortunate.

Our two MG42s passed by Yugo at one point...your original stock and cocking lever and my stock and flashhinder have been through the Yugo process at one point.

I guess that is what happened to many of these guns.
