mg1 with mg3 work together?

hey guys
so i finally bit the bullet and got a brp rear and gonna start my mg 42 this weekend.
i want to know if i can use a MG1 top cover with a MG3 feed tray?
the only reason i want to do this combo is because here in CA i cant run non-disintegrating belts (10rd max)
will the MG1 top cover feed the disintegrating links or only the MG3 top cover woks with them??

I thought only the MG3 top cover and tray can do the disintigrating links.

Could be wrong, but I think that is why some guys go all MG3 to be able to do the links.

i do not think the mg1 top will fit on the mg3 feed tray ---i may be wrong
