MG42 S/N

Post by Abominog »

Hi guys,

My kit arrived. It's marked M.U. MG 42 1076d dfb. So it was made in 1944.

Looking at the MG34/42 book, that S/N seems to be way outside the range. Am I reading something wrong, or what do you think?

Sir,
Your MG42 was made as serial number # 41076 ....the "d" refers to the 40,000 range....(IE: a= 10,000 b=20,000 etc.)
Be safe, RichardS.

Serial Number

Aren't the Germans smart about the serial numbering of weapons. I figure that it would fool the Allies for a while as far as production numbers, but eventually they would figure it out and by then, it would not matter.
