Top center is for the thin finger with the curved tip that is the rear anti-aircraft sight. The other two holes are holes for the AA sight detent to rest in. The dentent rests in the back hole when the sight is down, and the front hole when the sight is up. The AA sight is flipped up for use with the front spider-web sight.

thank you john. I've pretty much got averything else on this fine firearm figured out. That was the only thing that had me stumpped. I now feel more edumacated because of you.
