Pitcures of our MG42 jig

Post by pdstout »

Guys, here are a few pitcures of our MG42 jig. It is adjustable and strong. Our Tech. Enginer Steve works wonders.

More pitcures

I Hope this helps. We have only built Post Sample MG42/53s, but I think the jig could be used for semi guns.

Pete,

Looks like a strong and adjustable unit for welding.

Very, very nice. Now if I only had a lathe...and knew how to use one.

the correct term is fixture.
A fixture holds the workpiece.
A jig holds the workpiece, and guides the cutting tool, as in a drill jig.

Wow! Learned something new. Good to have the terminology down. It make communicating allot clearer.

Jig or Fixture

Post by pdstout »

Sometimes I do have to cut when I make a mistake. I guess it could be called both.
I just know it works. Jig Fixture?

are you sure it's 1.187" because I just measured five barrel supports, and they all measured about 1.140"

The unistrut is an excellent simple way to align the parts. I have used the same principal on a couple of other projects to hold and align them to tack together for welding. the front alignment section is a nice addition to my basic design.

I just used a pipe clamp, commonly called a mini, to hold the end of the receiver.
