A new in wrap German 8mm Mauser MG42 barrel, in a carrier, sold on Gunbroker for $1025.

...in the bidder's defense and as consolation at least, I think he gets a chrome-lined barrel.

I don't know how the prices are today in the USA, but in Europe there are very few opportunities to acquire nice pieces.

US prices for a semi-auto MG42 are about half of your example, although that gun is exceptionally nice.
A full auto MG42 that can be privately owned is about $50,000 here.
