Does anyone have a picture or 2 of the MG3 7.62 belt loader hopper converted to 8mm.
Thanks

I have an MG-3 belt loader converted to 8mm. I welded a 5/16" extension to one side of the hopper, and the tool functions flawlessly. You have to grind off the tack welds holding one side plate, weld on a 5/16" strip of sheet metal along the edge of the hopper, then re-weld the side plate onto the extender.

As you can see from the stamping on the can, it was made in June 1984.

This tool is for sale, by the way. Asking $150.00 plus shipping. SOLD.

Thanks, looks like you welded on the front or right side of the hopper. Saw some welds on the opposite side too.
No interference with the belt feed?

On one side are spot welds which are original to the hopper. The ones on the other side are mine. There is no interference with the rounds because there are no weld beads on the inside of the hopper. All spot welds are external. The right side panel of the hopper overlaps the new strip of metal extension. The strip of sheet metal used to right expand the side of the hopper are not visible because they were ground flush. You have to do a close inspection to detect the modification and compare it with an unmodified hopper.
